The book Mocking Bird by Kathryn Erskine is a book where a girl named Caitlin which Is the main character.Caitlin has to go through a derastic change.Her mother and brother died and she gets depressed along with her father.Since the bother died no one is allowed in there.Caitlin doesn't agree.She wants to go in there so she can feel like she has her brother again but she can't :(.

Sounds kind of sad. And yes I agree a "drastic" change must occur.
