I agree, it started off a little slow, but once it got going, I couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it in a couple days! Stick with it, it's worth it! And the sequel is even better (IMHO).
I loved the movie, too and it was pretty close to the book.

This book is... well, if you aren't particular about beautiful and effective prose, and are okay with cliches, would be a great way to pass time. The sequel to it, Power of Six is BY FAR better, so if you are willing to muddle and drag yourself through this, the second book will reward you. Personally (and this is a personal opinion) I thought I am Number Four was one of the worst books I have read in terms of writing. The idea is interesting, and the characters are alright, but the writing is... not good. As for pacing, eventually it will pick up. Action toward the end of the book. Happy reading!
Only if you feel you should. Sometimes we have read something else that influences our reading, or for whatever reason, it is not yet that book's time in our life. Read it when you feel drawn to.
I loved it though, but I know opinions out there are 50/50 and if you force yourself for the sake of going with the flow, then you might end up not liking it again.

It's really worth it because the second book is BRILLIANT!
Read it if you like science fiction, or are just looking for another bok to read. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. It's slow, a little jerky in the dialogue, and the plot line takes a bit to figure out.
Yes. I loved it and have now read it 3 or 4 times just in like the summer and fall, it's worth is the Power of Six is really good, better even so yea i would try it again

OHMYGOSH. THIS BOOK WAS SO AWESOME. I read the sequel. Pitacus Lore better publish a third book otherwise I'm finding out where he lives.
I loved the book, but for personal reasons, i am REALLY mad at this series. But seriously, you'll love it.
I thought this book was alright but I suggest reading something else.
Do not continue
I tried reading it but I couldn't get past the second chapter I will probably try to read it again soon though...I got my sister to read it though but she isn't even slightly interested in reading the second one :(
The get-go is quite slow, I must admit. But after the fist few chapters, I could not put it down. I finished it in 13 hours, granted, with a few breaks in between. ( the flight from Germany to Tampa is very long...)
Truly worth a second attempt.
