Even if she married Will, she couldn't be Jace's ancestor, because she's a warlock, and they can't have children."Actually, if you look in the Hardcover Jacket of Clockwork Princess, there is a Family tree for the Carstairs, Herondales and Lightwood. So it is clearly stated there that she CAN have kids (she has 2) and those are who are Jace's ancestors.
I totally LOVED clockwork princess. I was so shocked about the ending though. I didn't know you could stop being a silent brother
Abishek wrote: "I think she looks familiar because she mothered all the herondales. Maybe she sees Jace in her."That's pretty much what I thought.
All i wanna know is if she's gonna put Tessa and Jem in any of the upcoming MI because that'd just be AWESOME soooooooooo..
Kelly wrote: "Just to throw something totally unrelated into the mix, I heard that either Will or Jem is Brother Zachariah from TMI. Has anyone else heard about this?"*SPOILER ALERT!!!!*
Jem is Brother Zachariah but that makes no sense because he is normal at the end of Clockwork Princess so I'm all confuzzled about how that happened..
Yeah will and Tessa are adorable. I always liked Jem but not with her. They never had the passion her and will had
★ Mist ☆ Cassidy ★ wrote: "In CoG, Clary sees Magnus talking to a brown-haired girl who Cassie has revealed as Tessa. Clary at this point says that the girl looks familiar. Why do you think that is?"Tessa married Will HERONDALE. Jace HERONDALE. See the connection. Probably there are some similar features between Tessa and Jace. between

Jem is B..."
yeah because it takes place in London 2008 and if you read the books again, the whole story is taking place in 2007. So i guess he becomes human the followling year

Spoiler (I'm guessing)
Hold it I thought that at the end of Clockwork Princess Tessa gets to be with Jem because he wasn't a silent brother any more. And she does have children with Will because she had a child that they named James (I think)
I think it's because Tessa and Brother Zachariah were the ones who performed the ritual of protection in Clary,Magnus helped so he called Bro Zachariah and Tessa the only ones who he can trust. If you realize, when Jocelyn saw Bro Zachariah she knew him, so that is it. I guess we'll find this out in COHF, as Bro Zachariah will be an impotant part on this book.

I am not sure if anyone said this, but I think the reason Clary thought Tessa was famillar could be because Tessa was the warlock that stood in for an Iron Sister when she had her protection ritual. The one Jace should have had redone--her mom didn't say at what age Clary was when it happened. I am guessing it wasn't when she was a baby because J originally thought she wouldn't do it.
Has anyone here finished clockwork princess actually? I'm not going to give away spoilers as to Tessa's warlock/immortal issue. Finish the book peeps. Then you'll see some good goodies ;) ;) if you catch my drift.
I think Clary and Tessa are tied together via Ithuriel. Ithuriel, guarded Tessa in the womb and her entire childhood via the clockwork angel necklace until she set him free. Then he was trapped again by Valentine and his blood was used to create Clary & Jace. Clary gets thoughts and messages from him via dreams, etc. So I think the angel's essence in Clary feels drawn to/recognizes Tessa. I wonder if Clary will also feel compelled to protect Tessa in some way...
Midwestocean wrote: "I like the theory that Clary and Tessa are related somehow."I like that idea, after all it does not say that she's a warlock it only hints that its a possibility. Tessa could be (and I think most likely is) a whole new species to be discovered.
Maybe they are related and because of this clary has seen Tessa before but Magnus blocked her memory. Maybe Tessa helped jocylen hide when she fled valentine and hid the cup? I also like to think that maybe Tessa has been keeping tabs on clary and been secretly helping her this whole time.
when a shadowhunter is at the right age they have special runes put on them. for clary it was done by magnus and a very powerful warlock. That could be tessa.maybe thats why clary remembers her
QUESTION ! maybe a SPOILER?? a bit out of the topicTessa is a Shadowhuner w/ deomon blood .. right? .. soo then .. Sebastian is trying to create more of her??
Tessa was a good person .. but on the MI series .. Sebastian is really bad ..
why TESSA and SEBASTIAN are so different? if both are shadowhunter w/ demon blood on them?
I don't think tessa will be in CoHF.. in Clockwork Princess epilogue when she met Jem she knew nothing about the whole TMI_things.. so she was there talking to magnus.. that doesn't mean she'll get involved
To everyone's question about what Tessa is, Mortmain told her in Clockwork Princess that her mother was a shadowhunter without marks [she possessed shadowhunter blood but without knowledge of it] and "her husband" [who was controlled by a greater? demon] and had Tessa as a baby, thus making Tessa half shadowhunter and half warlock with magic abilities. Mortmain also told her because of her shadowhunter half she is fertile. And for the confusion about the end of Clockwork Princess, CC wanted to make the end of CP & COHF tie up together. TMI series happens throughout 2007, but the epilogue at the end of CP dates 2008, so we will find out what happens altogether in COFH, which means Tessa and Jem have to be mentioned at least a little bit.
and @Maria, if you read further in the TMI series, you learn that Sebastian went through a ritual with Lady of Edom were she handed him her blood directly, removing most of his "goodness" and life. Tessa however just possessed a bit of demon blood in her, the only consequence that came out of it was her power.
@Patrizia Thank you for your response ! really helpful ..I figured that Lilith's blood made a huge difference in the way Sebastian is.
@Maria, no problem. The blood takes majority of him, especially after the ritual which brings him back to life. and @Andrea, I just finished re-reading the book and it happens in just one paragraph on page 525, in the epilogue.
Dhvani wrote: "yeah, but at the same time, CC has to make sure it isn't a spoiler for the ID books.because in a few years time when all the books are out, people won't be reading them in publication order like u..."
I don't understand what you mean? if you read everything in order then people will just read the infernal devices before all the other ones...?
In the Tale of Two Cities book that Clary finds, does it (by the time Clary sees it) still say Tessa's name, because I know it still says Will Herondale on it. Either way, Clary didn't recognize the name Tessa then, so it's not like she had ever met her or anything.
Okay, so I just finished reading clockwork princess (BEWARE! this contains spoilers, those who read!) and am now re-reading COFA, (i freaked out when i realised who brother zachariah -ahem Jem-was) and came across this page--I think Tessa is staring at Clary because: Jocelyn is a Fairchild (Charlotte is her ancestor) and both clary and Jocelyn have red hair, EXACTLY the same colour as Henry's! So I'm thinking that Tessa can recognize both Charlotte and Henry in clary and that why she stares at her! She's sad that she's lived for so long and is remembering her friends from the 19th century. What do ya'll think?
Dhvani wrote: "Tessa isn't a Herondale. If you read TID, you'll know that. Even if she married Will, she couldn't be Jace's ancestor, because she's a warlock, and they can't have children."ya but they say that tessas a special kind of worlock thats why she can change form and she dose have kids with will herondale at the end of clockwork princess so jace is related to tessa. shes like his great great gramma or somthing
While reading I suspected she thought Tessa looked familiar for the pure fact the she is one of Jace's ancestors. She married Will Herondale and had children. There may be a slight resemblance between Jace and Tessa. The memory theory is something that hadn't crossed my mind though. Tessa could have kept in contact with the Fairchilds as well! I suppose we'll see!
Tessa is Jace's great great...great grandmother, so maybe they bear some family resemblance, or maybe there's more to it than that, either way, I'm sure CC will surprise us ;)
Dhvani wrote: "Tessa isn't a Herondale. If you read TID, you'll know that. Even if she married Will, she couldn't be Jace's ancestor, because she's a warlock, and they can't have children."If you read TID Clockwork princess at the end she does indeed have a biological family with Will.
★ Mist ☆ Cassidy ★ wrote: "In CoG, Clary sees Magnus talking to a brown-haired girl who Cassie has revealed as Tessa. Clary at this point says that the girl looks familiar. Why do you think that is?"well tessa is the mother of will's children so her babies would be herondales...will is a herondale...maybe clary sees the resemblance there? And they're the same age, so some features might look alike (idk ha oops)
Dhvani wrote: "she's near the very end of COG; clary just see's a brown haired girl in the woods talking with magnus (correct me if i'm wrong). She only thinks the girl is familiar. That's about it."
wow really, but how is anybody sure that is Tessa?

she's right at the end.. on the party or parade or watever that is.. Magnus is talking to girl with brown hair. Cassie said that was Tessa
"Magnus stood in the shadow of a tree talking to a girl in a white dress with a cloud of pale brown hair. She turned as Magnus looked toward them, and Clary locked eyes with her for a moment across the distance that separated them. There was something familiar about her, though Clary couldn't have said what it was." (p. 525)I was waiting for Tessa to show up in the series and it looks like she finally has!
I think that Tessa was the female warlock that took place of the Iron Sister in the protective ceremony at the birth of a shadowhunter. Jocelyn said a female warlock did it it CoLS. Maybe she's just slowly getting her memory back, it makes sense.
★ Mist ☆ Cassidy ★ wrote: "In CoG, Clary sees Magnus talking to a brown-haired girl who Cassie has revealed as Tessa. Clary at this point says that the girl looks familiar. Why do you think that is?"Because she looked like Jace.
Jace is a relative of Tessa after all.
