I adore the way Rushdie plays on words throughout this colorful story. His character's names, his settings, his music, all create a fun, comical, rhythmic analysis of the use of language in storytelling. I imagine Rushdie, over years, telling this continued story to his son every night in the bathtub. I imagine the way his stories came to life by simply looking at the way the water moved or at the rubber ducky that's beak wouldn't move (which is why Butt the Hoopoe's beak didn't move when he talked). What a fun book to read aloud. What an amazing animation film it would make.
what i loved about this book was that Haroun was a brave kid who did his best to save his community from the evil master Kattam-Shud, and that at the end he got what he wanted which was a happy ending with his whole family in the old city who found its name Kahani.

What i loved about Haroun and the Sea of Stories is that there are so many words and figure of speeches being used in this book which gets your mind to visualize a picture that will help you understand the reading better. Also, i love that it doesn't uses common names on the characters.
I love this book! I love the way Salman Rushdie play with the words, how he visualize the characters and setting. I like the quotes that he uses and how they relate to many people. One of my favorite quotes is when the Walrus says “Happy ending are much rarer in stories, and also in life, than people think. I can relate to this because I agree life is not always fear and there is not always happy ending to every story. I love the characters in this story because of their unique personalities and their names! What a book…image if there was a movie!!!
I really like this book. I love the way Rushdie comes up with insane words and creates his own new vocabulary, like pzczf. I recommend this book to anyone because i think its somehow funny and it gets to think the reader a whole lot! It is like a puzzle with a million pieces. Some settings were interesting like the setting when Haroun was in the sea. It was a bad setting. This setting shows that Haroun is very daring. Something that i really loved about the book was that some warriors played two people and it was kind of interesting to see that because it was the shadow and "MUDRA" Itself. I loved the way this warrior came up with hand sings and Haroun tries to understand them.
this book actually ended in a way that i never imaqined i like the way that he plays with the words like for example walrus said" just our little yolk" in meaning joke just so Hauroun could laugh. i never knew the setting would end in the P2C2E house. One of the quotes that Soraya said " there is a limit to how much rain a person can enjoy." i think that this quote really relates to me because when a person enjoies something they cant enjoy it forever, so there has to be a limit to what a person can enjoy. i think there will be a next book. but we were the first class to finish!
I loved this book it was so imaginative and playful. The characters and the settings were larger than life and though there is sadness Rushdie uses humour throughout the book. He is brilliant at playing with words and language and meaning.
I loved this book most of any of Rushdie's so far. I'm only going to agree with what most others have said and add that there's a second installment of this story "Luka and the Fire of Life" written for his second son.
