message 2: by brooke1994 (new)

brooke1994 I hate the illustrations, but I like the poems.

Will IV So... you rate it a 1. Makes sense.

message 4: by Sam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sam McGraw purple rabbits rage against the light
running windy for the fight
pushing daisies in the snow
might just have done that
i don't know

-and original poem by me

message 5: by Connor (new)

Connor That was so deep Sam. Angel clap to you. I love the rhymes. Let me try a haiku.

I see the future
I am to travel the world
Clavicles are good

message 6: by Sam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sam McGraw Hues of the sun reminisce with the passing.
For what was the one who was the winning?
"Nevermore!" cried the raven
Winding across the sky
Big blues of the rain
Must show you the end
For all is near
Including your mother

message 7: by Connor (new)

Connor To the Challenge

Here me scream
Here me roar
Here we dream
You said "more"
To whom may I address
My poem to thee
It is Sam that shall I press
another poem to me
A raven was spoken
As was the wind
Now your story is broken
it seems to have a trend
I am Ready
I am Strong
For I enjoy these discussions
It is not a fight its just for fun
I enjoyed your last poem
So no man won and no man lost
I have lost my rhyme
I have lost the time
So we don't get into trouble
I am saying loud and proud
I find Sam a friend double
I would like to say
That in this condition
I want you to remember
Our very strong ambition
Together Goodreads stands as leather
We are all in this together

message 8: by Sam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sam McGraw Bravo! I say!
Well done indeed!
For what youve written
'Tis a noble creed
I find myself flattered,
which is no small feat.
And look at the latter
but not at the former,
For not at the Mad Hatter
There comes a knock at the door.
"A leech on Her!"
For who should it be
But the man, Connor!
A pseudonym, of course
For who could he tell,
That Goodreads knew not
'Tis a great author
Unknown!
So who, pray tell, do readers think it tis
Who's leaving these puzzling,odd messages?

Tuesdee I love this book. Until it got ruined by water, I even had my own copy. Shel Silverstein had a gift for the obivious obsurd.

Tallulah I love this book as well. I'm originally from America and now live in England, so when I went back for a visit I found a copy from the 1970s.

I read it to my residents in the care home I work in, the majority with dementia, and they laugh and smile at Shel's poetry. I think it's great for any generation.

That is so lovely to hear. I bought this book for my daughter before she was born and now we read it together.
