What's better: The Hunger Games or Catching Fire?

I've liked both, but from diffrent poin off view. First because everything was new, the main characters, story and ending. Second book had to over come this and it did.

Catching Fire was a better version of The Hunger Games-with more interesting characters and more Cinna, so, Catching Fire. The Peeta/Katniss sap was annoying, so that almost balanced it out. Another vote for Finnick and Johanna making things better here.

i loved the entire series, but i enjoyed the second one more than the first one. the hunger games was a great beginning to an amazing series, and the second book just continued on perfectly. I found the second book more exciting too

LOved the whole trilogy...idk which one i liked best but catching fire was definetly amazing because for one awesome story and 2 it didn't suck! usually when authors right a sencond book it usually isn't very good but catching fire for me was AMAZING AND OF COURSE FINNICK WAS IN IT!!!!! 3. The whole 'going-back-into-the-hunger-games' thing was a MIND BLOWING plot twist.
4. Plus Gale and Katniss FINALLY get some smooches, to turn it into a love-triangle! Not just:

Hunger games.... Catching Fire was alright but the first book had more action, world building, and character development. Suzanne Collins zoned out a little throughout the series (you'll know what I mean if you read Mockingjay) but hunger games will forever be remembered : )

Yep yep yep. The Hunger Games movie was a load of crap, but Catching Fire was FANTASTIC!

However, the first book is way better. It took me at least 2 weeks to even get in to CF, and I think Mockingjay was the best out of the 3 books, hands down.

Any truth to what I heard? That when Collins first wrote Hunger Games it was a single volume to the publisher, who proceeded to convince her to make it three? True or not, they sorta read like that, as if a scrumptious bowl of soup had to be watered down to feed the masses.
