What's better: The Hunger Games or Catching Fire?

Did you guys like the first book better or the second one? I say first.

I agree, the first. I still loved them all though regardelss :)
They're both basically the same thing. The first was much better. The second..waste of time. And annoying. The president planning their wedding? lmao Ridiculous.
I loved both so to chose the first one idk still I read them a while ago
Hunger Games..and Mockingjay. I liked Catching Fire, but I think the first and last books are the best in this trilogy.
Hunger Games was, no doubt, the best of the three. The rest weren't as good, though they were good in their own way.
The Hunger Games was my favorite! The best of all. I don't know, the books kind of went downhill from there. I didn't like Mockingjay at all!

Catching Fire was wayyyy better for me than Hunger Games.
Hunger Games was better, but Mockingjay had some cool military combat where Katniss worked with Gale. Where he seemed to be a bit described better than Peeta in many aspects.
i like the hunger games, but i LOVE Catching Fire. to me it is the perfect mixture between the first and second book.

Yep!! I am in love with the series! I was in love with the Twilight series but after reading this I am like who cares about vampires!!
I say the Hunger Games because Catching Fire was kind of hard to get into at first. But in Hunger Games a lot of what was in the book was how good the Capitol's food was.
I think Catching Fire was better than the Hunger Games but I love the entire trilogy!!!!

I personnaly liked The Hunger Games better, the most engrossing of the three I think. Mockingjay was hopelessly depressing and I got desperately confused at some parts. Also Katniss got whiny in the start of Catching Fire.
I like Catching Fire better because we got to know the other previous victors and we got to meet my favorite character, Finnick Odair. I loved Hunger Games too, but for some reason I liked Catching Fire better.
Catching Fire was better because we got to learn about more of the character's past and we got to meet previous victors of The Hunger Games.
I liked the first book the best. IT could have been a good stand alone book too. The rest, is just 'another way to get more money' in my opinion.

Hunger games!!!!!!! i found myself zoning out a lot during catching fire
While I loved all 3 books, the Hunger Games for me will always be the best. I know they take part in the games in the second book as well, but it's a lot different and the emotion and hopelessness of it all is way more palpable in the 1st. I found it more exciting as well and that I couldn't wait to read the next chapter.

Exactly! I completely agree with you. I was SO irritated with Mockingjay.

I liked them both, but The Hunger Games was my favourite. The pain and emotion was fresher - i think as the books went on, Katniss' numbness just overpowers and makes the book a little less raw. I liked Mockingjay because the uprising was so interesting but I feel like Katniss could have had a little more emotion...

Well, I love them both... but I prefer The Hunger Games, simply because Catching Fire, even if still great, in some parts was too similar to THG.But I totally loved the addition of Finnick and Johanna, I think they're great characters! :)
