LOL! Yeah, sometimes (ha! Lotta times) the military makes decisions like that just don't make a lick'a sense. The USMC passed a rule last year that all Marines will wear sleeves down, no matter time of year or climate in their region, all year when in cammies. It makes no sense and doesn't look as good as sleeves up, IMO. Hubby & I wonder if this one passed b/c someone high up was tired of rolling their sleeves. LOL!

Or couldn't hide the sag, flab, or drooping ink any more. Ugh! I would keep my sleeves down to...Uh, yeah, I do, don,t I?

Thanks Christina, I certainly remember our heated discussion on stealing his name tag. ROFLMAO

He looks so young & cute to have a kid graduate from infantry school.

I bet the sleeves down thing is in response to skin cancer. My hubby (works in the electrical transmission field) has to have long sleeves as well, and he's only out in the sun about half the time, the rest he is in his workshop/office.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yeah, that is one of the reasons they gave, Sandra. We joke about other potential reasons though.

Sure! You can change your mind about a book, or if you start a book and realize that it's not your cuppa -- realize pages are missing....

message 370: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Oh drat! I'll have to leave in 5 mins or so. Hubby is looking daggers at me because I've been in the computer for a long time instead of cuddling with him!

message 372: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments *Lethal snorts* Say what? Doesn't your dear hubby understand the importance of stalking GR? Doesn't he realize that the world is gonna freaking end if his wonderful wife does not refresh the main page repeatedly to see if the new shelf has been announced? UGH, MEN.

message 373: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Exactly, LL! MEN!

But I just sent him to cook something for me so I have a few more minutes. :p

message 374: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments My family is now officially fed... We still have snow and more coming, so no desire to leave the house all weekend... So I HAVE to stalk GRs.... I need my book fix!

Hehehe. You devious woman, you!

I am so happy I have no man. If I had a man right now, I'd also have a cell in the state penitentiary. Ain't no man gonna tell me I can't stalk GR everyday all day constantly without cease!

Here's a useless trivia fact of the day that I just read on wiki... The father Howard Stark character in IRON MAN was named Howard for Howard Hughes. Since that was the movie my hubbie was watching was AVIATOR while I stalked GRs today. And I had to google him.

Thanks to you for all your hard work Steph and mod-ladies!!!!! I was just looking today at all the Stamp Requests and thinking about how much time must be spent verifying.

Keep up the good work, we appreciate you :)

message 388: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Steph, Sandra, Judithe:

I have a book - Gardens of the Moon that is shelved 1 time under demon (Link Here). When I click on demon, it takes me to the demons shelf. I know we are supposed to read books only with the exact shelf name but could I use this book for the demons shelf?

message 389: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments yes, could she? please? lol

message 390: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments I have a similar problem. I read Awakening the Nightmare by Lainie Malone and the book is about a half demon woman. But no one's shelved it as a demon book, except me. Would it work for the demon shelf?

message 391: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I think it has to be a separate shelf named demons. Right now, it's a mix in yours right? Anyway, I'm not sure if you shelving will count.. Have to await judgement on that.

message 392: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hi Vi & Midu, the ruling is it must be on the Demons shelf.

Demon or any other variation isn't allowed under the rules of the game.

This is the #1 rule of the game and has never been broken in any round.

Sorry, please pick another book ;)

message 393: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Ditto that.

Sorry, ladies!

message 394: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Thanks, Sandra and Judithe!! I knew it was a loooong shot.

message 395: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Sorry, ladies. As the other mods have stated, the book must be on the shelf linked to each week in order to count for the shelf read. I know it's frustrating sometimes.

Basically:
✔ If a book is on a shelf, but doesn't belong (ie: Shelf is 'vampires', but a book there doesn't have vampires in it) the book IS acceptable b/c it's on the shelf.

✘ Conversely, if a book does belong, but isn't there (ie: Shelf is 'ghosts', book is ALL about ghosts, but no one has tagged it as such) it ISN'T acceptable b/c it's not on the shelf.

Don't forget, there are 'personal shelves' this round, so maybe you can use that book for 'favorite supe' instead (assuming it's called)? Just a thought.

Thanks for understanding and sticking to this primary rule. :)

message 396: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 1732 comments thank you for clearing that up, ladies!

message 397: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Almost 2a and can't put my book down, so I thought I'd treat everyone to an early shelf announcement (in case I sleep late). Hope everyone has a great weekend!
