An Inconvenient Match by Janet Dean

How exciting to have Wade Cummings, the hero from An Inconvenient Match, a January 2012 release from Love Inspired Historical with us today.

1. Wade, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m a craftsman buried inside a business suit.

2. What do you do for fun?

When I can get away from handling my injured father’s businesses, I enjoy creating furniture in my workshop. I also like to assist others. Right now I’m helping rebuild several houses that burned to the ground in New Harmony and Abigail Wilson and I are handling donations for those who lost everything. Even with the feud between the Wilsons and Cummings, I cherish every moment spent with Abby.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I put off telling my banker father that I plan to start a cabinetmaking business. I also avoid confronting him about his negative attitude that divides us.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid of putting my trust in relationships. My mother deserted us when I was nine. My father, hard and bitter, never approves of the man I am. I had my heart broken when I had to give up Abby, for her sake more than mine.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to mass produce beautiful, functional, affordable furniture.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

To please God and use the talent He gave me.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I read the Bible and an occasional woodworking publication but I don’t read fiction. I keep my feet planted in the real world.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d stop running from confrontations, exactly what I will do and soon.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

My father’s faithful hound dog Blue is an affectionate family pet. I admire Blue’s loyalty to my father yet underneath I’m envious of his closeness to a man who shuts me out.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d go back to the day when Abby’s father issued his ultimatum. Knowing what I know now, I’d refuse. But I can’t change the past. I have to move forward, to find a way to make up for the terrible trouble between Abby and me.
