While most people may enjoy Charlie the most, my favorite character is Patrick. I think it's amazing that he goes about his life as genuinely as possible. Being openly gay back in 1991 was probably extremely difficult - seeing as it's still very hard for some people now. It's been a while since I've read the book so I can't give specific examples, but Patrick = favorite!

I loved Patrick, too. He was such a great character in so many respects. I loved how real his pain was.. I'm not sure if I should explain it in detail here to avoid spoilers, but the letters about the park and such were very emotional and real to me.I also liked Bill! He was like the teacher I wish I had, haha.
Patrick and Sam were my favorite. Personally, I wished there was more Sam in the book. It did spend a lot of time on Patrick and I felt the same about Patrick's episodes that Cindy did.
My favorite character was Mary Elizabeth, she definately had her quirks, but she was always there for her friends and forgave easily!
Sam was definitly one of my favourite characters, and I really can't wait to see how Emma Watson (who I also love) is going to play her.
And Charlie is one of my favourite characters in general, he is just so real and captures the way how many teenagers (including myself) feel sometimes.
