What do you think of Rue?

What makes Rue and Katniss trust eachother?

Do you think there was a different reason why Rue and Katniss's partnership was formed versus the other groups?

What does Katniss gain from this friendship besides companionship?

Rue is the most...fearless of them all. She tried her best, even though their were people 10 times the size of her. She was a fighter.

I agree. I think had the most grit and guts of them all. Even the careers.

ha! The Careers? They were just well-fed and trained. Top of the line, they were. Never had to support their whole family, scrounge for food, accept their untimely death. Rue had to do that though. She was the smallest of them all, but she lasted at lot longer than the others.

I think that's where the other kids exceled. I think they were more prepared that way than the Careers. They had a disadvantage that hurt them.

Exactly. Katniss said so herself...that being well-fed made them expect more food.

Rue was like a little sister to Katniss. I thought Rue was an awesome little thing and reminded me of my little cousin, Ronin. Rue noticed Katniss' mockingjay pin and it reminded Rue of her home and probably felt that Katniss was in the same situation with the Careers, which she was right. Rue and Katniss joined together because they both provided food in different ways and taught each other vital skills, which helped them both. Rue's death gave Katniss motivation to avenge her death, along with the skills she learns.

Yes, a little extra motivation. I think Katniss saw Prim in Rue and felt the desire to protect Rue and pretty much took Rue on as her Arena-Prim. I find that similar in life and in many other books.

Rue was a fighter, she did so well for such a small girl. She was being a protector of he siblings like Katniss. I think because Rue reminded Katniss of her sister, and she told her about the Tracker Jackers. Katniss and Rue were a few of the only non-career tributes, and Katniss (as stated above) trusted her. Katniss got help to blow up the supplies, which she couldn't do by herself. The blowing up of the supplies gave Katniss an advantage, letting her save Peeta, and by extension helping her win the Games. Rue kinda started the Rebellion, not only because of that, but she helped motivate Katniss.

Agreed....Rue was the catalyst in alot of areas...it sucks that she died:(

stat (in the medical sense) is actually an abbreviation of the latin word statim, which means immediately.
