What are your opinions on the Tributes for the Quarter Quell?

Oh Mags...It was sad. Extremely sad that old victors had to go in. Plus the victors with children.

I AGREE! It was horribly cruel. I like Mags and Finnick.

I like ALL OF THEM! But my favorite tribute, not including Peeta, in the QQ was..hmm..oh, wait. I can't choose. Their all so wonderful. Even Johanna.

I agree. It's sad that I liked them all because most of them had to die.

I honestly had no idea there was going to be an escape team. If there wasn't, who do you think would win?

message 7: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Good question. I personally think it would have been Finnick or Johanna. I don't think Katniss and Peeta could've lasted... well I don't think the Capitol would've let them last.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 768 comments Mod
Really? I think Beetee. Johanna and Finnick are survivers, but Beetee is really smart and ingenious. 1, the capitol wouldn't let them, 2, Peeta would of died (he always seems to get himself in those situations?) and Katniss's fight might of gone out too.

message 9: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Yes, Peeta seems to always be the one in need of saving. It's not that he's like weak it's just danger seems to find him quite quickly. I hadn't thought of Beetee. His intelligence would help him. But his age?

message 10: by Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!), "It costs everything you are." (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 768 comments Mod
haha..I hate when people think that he's weak..because he isn't. Like, you said, danger just follows him! He's not that old. I mean, sure Johanna and Finnick are a lot younger..

message 11: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Yeah. It was hard to get ages. I really like knowing the ages of characters (don't know why) but I always try to know and I had a hard time finding them. I know, all my friends thought Peeta is weak and like Gale better but he's not! Gosh, I don't know why the definition of weak to them is PEETA.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 768 comments Mod
Sometimes...I know right!? Because Peeta has this inner strength that no one else has. To overcome the past and start afresh. Katniss sure didn't have much of it. The strength to keep on going..

message 13: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
For sure. Katniss lacked int hat department. I think Peeta was really good at putting differences and the past aside and working with the present, not the future, not the past.

Yes, he might've looked weak on the outside but on the inside... quite the opposite.

message 14: by Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!), "It costs everything you are." (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) (3teofilea3) | 768 comments Mod
Yes...And it still amazes me how they could keep on going. Find meaning in life..After all they've been through..Amazing.

Yes, it was truly a miracle of sorts. I think it would be hard. They are forever emotionally scarred. It's one of those things that no matter how hard you try you'll never ever forget.

message 16: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
It also seems like a wound that is easily ripped open. Just a guess, but I think a lot of things will forever (and did) remind Katniss of what she'd been through. I could probably make a list. You know, I think I will... a little later.

Can I see it when you are finished? That's another reason why I don't think they would name their children after those lost in the war or games. It would make everything much more painful.

message 19: by Lauren, Head Gamemaker (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lauren Gibson (laurengibson) | 3009 comments Mod
Yes. That's why I want my kids names to be brand new and fresh. It's funny to see all the speculation of what they should've named their kids. Really I can't even begin to think of ideas.

Nya Tomlinson-Horan-Malik-Payne-Styles i liked johanna, finnick, beetee, katniss, peeta, brutus, and chaff. i didnt really like wiress, and everybody else.

Wiress! That's her name. Totally forgot about her. I mean, you have to give her credit for figuring out the Clock thing but man was she pretty wacky. She was not that important otherwise and bound to not survive.

I liked finnick the best. Johanna was pretty awesome though. But whenever i think of johanna i think teeth then oil then her relationship with katniss. I guess that is just the way my mind works though.

I think Axes, Oil, Naked (because she really had no idea what modest was), Morphine, Water, Torture. And that's about it. No very high opinion of her.

Yeah... ibthink she grew on me more towards the end. Oh and yeah i forgpt about the whole water thing. I liked that she was strong and stayed sane fpr the most part.

yes, she was very strong and at some point the opposite of Katniss.

Oh wow just rereading that sorry for my spelling im not really that bad it is just the buttons all blend together on a touch pad. But yeah i think that she really has nothing to lose like she has told us so she is not afraid till she has nothing left.

Yes with the jabberjays. That's sad but it definitely helped her.

Yeah i think that is how some scratch that a lot of people feel but is true for only a sad few. It really takescourage to keep going if you have nothing left.

Yes for sure. Courage is a huge part of this book.

LiteraryMary95 I like how Finnick and Johanna bring humor into the book...some are crazy, while others are cannibalish.

She died. I think it was during that whole part when everything was spinning?

Ya didn't Gloss shoot her? Though, I wonder like how she went crazy in the first place

She wasn't crazy. She just didn't finish her sentences all of the way..Somewhat like Luna does.

Her throat was slit while the tributes were planning their big electrocution thing and washing off the blood.

Yeah, besides she was old and the QQ probably freaked her out. Besides she was the first one to get the clock, "Tick Tock."

But I was more wondering like what made her "Nuts" (pardon the pun)

Luna is from Harry Potter right? Sorry I haven't read it so I don't really know what your talking about:$

Yes, Luna Lovegood, from Harry Potter.

Leah (lepolk) | 159 comments This is sort of off topic, but has anyone else noticed that the characters' names are somewhat symbolic of their district's industry or a habit ir hobby that the character has? For instance, District 11's industry is agriculture. Thresh is from 11. You have to thresh wheat. Or, here's a better example. Peeta's family runs a bakery, and his name is Peeta, which is a type of bread (pita bread). Does that make sense?

Jules:) Leah wrote: "This is sort of off topic, but has anyone else noticed that the characters' names are somewhat symbolic of their district's industry or a habit ir hobby that the character has? For instance, Distr..."

What does bread have to do with Coal?

message 42: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah (lepolk) | 159 comments Maybe I didn't explain that very well... see, I didn't necessarily mean that it always had to be symbolic of the industry, but perhaps just of that character's life or things they do and/or enjoy. Another example: there is a plant called katniss, and it is wild, I believe. Katniss hunts. Somewhat loosely connected, I know, but does that clear anything up?

message 43: by LEX, I love PSYCH (new) - added it

LEX (lydiapatch) | 1015 comments Mod
Haha i think that would fall under the hobby part. I think it was cool how each district had its own kind of bread.

message 44: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leah (lepolk) | 159 comments Yeah, it was pretty cool. Just thought of this...how do you think that Peeta knows about the other district's breads? The books mentioned several times that the people of the different districts knew next to nothing about the other districts. Maybe he knows about it because he is a baker's son...what do you think?

Yeah...sort of like the tributes from 1 during Katniss's first Games. Marvel and Glimmer. The industry is luxury items, which include gems...gems glimmer and you marvel at them...that's probably the best example.
