It's an unstable excuse for a country...
Amen. I agree. You know I just noticed that no one thought to comment on this. Congrats Primniss. :)
I mean it was an interesting form of government and I think it would have done better if they'd had a different leader.

I think that it is a very common sci-fi type of town where it is just isolated from the rest of the world and not really knowing if there are any other civilizations out there. Although it is a bit different in the fact that it does have the hunger games. The setup is kind of like the Uglies series if you have ever read that. (Really good series)
I'm trying to convince my mother to let me read it. Yes, I wonder where the other civilizations were. Do you remember why Earth turned out like that? Was it a devastating war or natural disaster?
Panel is unstable, I will be honest. And a little unrealistic. To be honest, can the entire world to under water and just have north America still stand? Granted, it is a book. But truly I think there was the possibility there was still life on other continents and Panem failed to mention them. I do wish Suzanne Collins had dabbled in that column a little more, but it was fine the way it was.
Yes, I would love for her to write a little-- I don't know-- short story about maybe the history of Panem. I know some of you are like, ew, boring but I'd be really interested. Sorry if known of you think that way.
It would be fascinating to see what she pictured our world coming to. It is very fascinating to think she knows it all. That maybe years an years from now Panem will exist and there will be an actual hunger games because of her... But the history would be fasnicnating to learn of.
Hmmm, interesting thoughts. I wonder if that would happen. That's why I love dystopias. It's so interesting to see different peoples views of the future of our world. How much it takes for society, justice, and sanity to crumble. And to see who will rise from the rubble with new ideas and a new life to build and who will rebel against it and who will support it.
See, I myself have my own story you will have to read sometime about our future(:
Although I wish to know, i will most likely be dead by the time any of this comes. This is why these books are important so when I am gone I can laugh and tell them no one was right. Yet, these books are interesting to know and learn about. Surely Shakespeare never thought we'd read his books on our iPods. Who knows? The Mayans probably thought we'd be dead by now.

Probably. It's very very very interesting. Interesting, heck it's fascinating. I'll have to read it. I can't wait to be watching and seeing how the world really ends up. Who is right? Or as it seems you think, no one is right. Ya never know.
It's on wattpad but it's only an intro for now.
I want to know, but at the same time I don't. I'm ready to live in my lifetime right now. I'm good for now. That's why we have imaginations though...

Yes, I don't want to be always worrying/thinking about the future and I don't want to be living in the past. I want to live in the present. But it is cool to occasionally speculate about the future, think what would've happened had this not taken place, etc.
That's whats so brilliant about dreams. You can do whatever and imagine whatever whenever you want. Life is meant to be lived, but why else would we have imagination? Come on.
Yes, I find that life would be quite... I wouldn't quite say dull but almost dull without dreams. Dreams move us forward, motivate us, encourage us to act, voice our opinions and give us optimism and hope.
Which makes me so happy. Flynn Rider here I come. And that's where J.K. Rowling is mistaken. By dwelling in your dreams you can truly live because dwelling in them makes you want them and strive to get them.
I think she means living in them instead of reality is bad. Constantly wishing it was true but never moving toward it. But you are right. She was wrong in the text, but maybe not the subtext.
Yeah, I think it had a deeper meaning. Like, don't let your dreams take control of your life where you don't do anything but have wishful thinking.
Yea, very much so. I think Panem is kind of like the text of JKR's statement. Where is says stay in reality. Because of Panem let's its citizens dream, they could get overthrown.
Although there are some (books) where our futture is not real at all it is jist on our heads and we control.wth our mimds what we want to happen.
Panem is just a run down United States ruled by a dictator who is sick and twisted by watching children fight to the death with his rich Capitol friends. That's how I see it.
What I would like to read is how the Untied States became Panem so the country would be more understandable,

That's pretty much Panem in a nutshell.

EXACTLY! For once I want a long history. "Untied" I do that all the time!

Me too! Like what happened to the rest of the world? Only North America was mentioned.

Exactly why Collins should write about it. (Sorry I'm slightly obsessed with communism. I can't even remember why)
Haha thats okay. Communism in it purest sense is not that bad of an idea as most people make it out to be. But a background story would be nice espically if it was actually written by collins not some random person.
Panem is messed up.
Just summed up both hours of thinking that went into Panem just after I finished Mockingjay.

Oh good. So, if you couldn't live in District 12 what would the next district be that you'd want to live in?
