Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I read this book last year and I have to admit I didn't love it as much as most people do. I didn't like Katniss and I didn't like reading about such a horrible world, especially when they were just kids.

I just didn't find any enjoyment in reading about death. Plus it reminded me too much of Battle Royale.

Mago (Mark) | 1709 comments At fifty years old, I must be becoming a Young Adult at last!
Cracking read. Recommended it to my 13yr. old Gothy daughter, who replied with a grunt and a puzzled expression.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I loved it and can't wait to see the movie. It is a horrible theme I guess but it didn't bother me so that I couldn't enjoy it.

message 5: by Pauline (new)

Pauline Byrne | 26 comments I really enjoyed this book. It did deal with horrible themes but it wasn't written in a horrific way. I did like Katniss and admired the way she handled the "Games". I am fully intending to read the next two books.

Lord Nouda (nouda) It's an awesome book, I didn't especially like the 3rd book but the first two are darn good reads. If you think the "death" scenes are bad in this trilogy, try checking out the Hunger series by Michael Grant. Kids killing kids but the difference is, they're NOT being forced to by adults. They're doing it of their own initiative, in a world without adults.
