You are powering along. I'm trying to slow down, but it's a bit pointless. The chapters towards the end are really quite short and I find it very difficult to stop listening!
I'm through chapter 98, and it's hard to put the book down. I want to find out how everything works out. After 900+ pages, I'm rather attached to these people.
I know what you mean. I read this two years ago, but honestly don't remember many of the details at the end here. I have just finished chapter 89... and I can't remember how the duel works out. Will I manage to finish this evening? Probably not, but I'll give it a try.

I cannot believe that they cut out the good stuff in the abridged version, Lee! They could have cut all of that blather about drugs, and I wouldn't have missed it. And they might have condensed Caderouse's story a bit...

When Caderousse died The Count said, enigmatically, "One". He didn't say "Two", so I did.
I read the semi-abridged version a few years ago and I don't remember the bit about the duel (well, the non-duel), but there's a lot I forget these days so that's not surprising either. (What? Who are you again?)

Ah, Fernand! Yes, I did the same thing as you did. :)
And, how utterly depraved and devious to involve Benedetto in the plot, ruining a son who was unaware of the fact.
