Thus far, I am finding the writing style to be tedious. It is near impossible for me to keep the names of all the minor characters straight and the number of Mrs' and Miss' is mind boggling.
I do find Mr.Bennett amusing. I can imagine him as the father in a household of females, developing his dry sense of humor and quick wit as a means to be heard among the din.

At first I thought the introduction to the girls was clever, but now I'm finding it to be somewhat of a hardship. So far though, each character is developing a personality.
I agree. I think the way Mr. Bennett is portrayed is realistic.
I haven't even attempted to keep the girls straight.
I am finding it hard to get through due to the lack of action. It seems like nothing actually happens in the book, it is simply talked about having happened by gossiping ladies.
I am pretty much stuck at chapter 8 and Jane's "illness".

I think I've got the girls in order:
Jane (the pretty one)
Elizabeth (lizzy)
Mary (the accomplished one)
Catherine (kitty)
Lydia (the tallest, good humored one)
