Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments mindfulness is so perfect in every way! Do your coursework though as that's on your road to helping others and what finer road is there??!!!

Kath | 1233 comments mindfulness and counselling skills is great, sadly I am still stuck at the NOS Healing CHH1-5 stage at the moment which I know is important, but tedious nevertheless... i like to think of it as a necessary evil *sigh*

and i started it for personal development really, but who know what will happen in the future...
need to help myself before i can help others...

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments just remember FRUGALITY and you will be fine!! ; )

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I did 2 years of counselling training and it was a huge help to me in both understanding myself and relating to others. I am now trying to help set up a chaplaincy/counselling service in a prison. i can't wait to get going on that and get out of my boring desk job.

message 155: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments i wrote that in my little book already... :)

I am thinking of bringing out a little handmade book of FRUGALITY with pictures of each child on the bale of hay along with the song/poem/story etc - even thought of doing some T-shirts with the FRUGALITY morals!!

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments one day! Who knows?

message 160: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Just had another nice review! That's nine reviews in less than fourteen days! I really can't believe all the kind things that are being said about Tollesbury Time Forever. I honestly thought it was about as uncommercial as you can get (as did I should think the many agents and publishers that didn't even reply to my submissions!)

message 161: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments nice one :)

i think you'd be surprised how many people will actually relate to your book... whether they choose to admit it or not is another thing entirely...

i also think that schizophrenia is still pretty much mis-understood. many people still think it is either DID/MPD and/or associated with violence...
*sigh*

most of my favourite books are what you would class as "uncommercial" imo they are often better cos they are more raw and therefore more real and not "softened up and/or polished (ruined) for publication"

praise Amazon for allowing books like yours to get read by people like me without being spoiled by editors and publishers...

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you Kath and thank you Karl! You will gather from the book, Kath that my views on mental illness and its treatment do lead me to the wrong side of the disciplinary line in terms of my job!!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well I've just finished it and I'm still getting my breath back. I have no experience either side of the mental health counter but as a piece of wonderful literature it's a winner, Stuart.

message 183: by Kath (new)

message 184: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments The thing is, I got it published four years back and don't have any means of fixing any errors!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments OK, I'll keep schtum! It's good though!

message 186: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thank you! I remember I hand wrote the first twenty thousand words then typed them and all the rest up on a typewriter in 1991/92. All the pages were stuffed in a carrier bag and I just brought it with me every place I lived until my wife read it and persuaded me to do something with it!

message 188: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments That was really interesting Stuart. Your wife is a woman of taste (obviously!)
Does growing my own vegetables, making quilts and catching flies and wasps to let them out rather than swatting them make me barmish too? Or just bloody barmy (as has been said!)

message 189: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments definitely barmish!!
