Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh please do enter the ring of Goodreads UKAKF, Stu. The sooner the better and you know our Simon will sort out the techie bits for you!

I'm so pleased you're finally on the mend! I don't like when people I care about are feeling poorly. Get better for MY sake! :)

New book, new book, new book.... ;)

message 703: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thanks Patti! Will sort it out today!

And yes the new book is coming on well. The early drafts of the blurb and cover seem to be getting a nice response which is very lovely!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Interesting review Stuart. I love the book, so was curious to know what you would make of it. What did you think of the pinapple tin incident?

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments It reminded me of when I took Rebecca on her first date - with the regulars from the Essex Arms to Calais. I bought 24 bottles of stella at the supermarche but no bottle opener. I ended up breaking the end of one on the bench out of frustration having tried various ways of prising off the cap. I believe Rebecca was somewhat appalled at my determination - especially when I drank from the broken bottle...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Eeek! I hope you didn't cut yourself on it.

message 708: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I believe I saw sense after spitting out the first piece of glass. Love eh?

message 709: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Stella is dangerous on so many levels.

I believe Simon would concur.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She can turn on you in a moment...

message 711: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments She made me puke out a car door. You can ask Simon what she did to him.

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments He's only gone and finished the first draft of The Bird That Nobody Sees!!!

message 713: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Yay!!!! Well done that man xx

message 714: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thanks Em! Plan now is to print it out and read it through looking for areas I need to add to or remove then go through it one more time with a bit more abandon. Then it will be ready to send to our lovely Kath (Ignite) for her magic red pen!

Still aiming for 30th July!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Great stuff Stu. Glad to hear its going so well.

message 716: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh good. Not that I'm running out of things to read of course, but I'm really looking forward to it!

message 717: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh wow! Me too!

Great stuff Mr Ayris!

message 718: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Hurrah! Rebecca is going to read through the manuscript over the next few days in terms of just the story itself. Then I'll go through it, correct any glaring areas and add in a few things then it's off to my lovely spellchecking grammar lady who knows when 'lie' should be used instead of 'lay' and all those things that seem to be entirely beyond me!

message 719: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Woohoo! :-D

message 720: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Thanks Em! I am very excited! It's a little different to Tollesbury Time Forever - it's written in the third person, has many more characters and even some action! Alot of it centers around a pub though and it is just a tiny bit weird so there are similarities!

message 721: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I am looking forward to it :-)
I just need to woohoo! On Twitter and I will have done the whole set :-D

message 722: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Great stuff! I think the difference with this book is that it encapsulates the other side of me that perhaps wasn't present in the other two books - I'll leave you to work out what that is!!

Intriguing!! Are you really a midget? I've met your twin and he isn't but maybe he got all the height? Seeing as we never get it right to meet up I suppose I'll have to keep guessing!!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A midget? Really!

message 725: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Yes - a five foot ten and a half inch midget - amazing!

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments The main thing I have to decide is whether to leave in the names of four of the characters as they are basically based on my four best mates...

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Stuart wrote: "The main thing I have to decide is whether to leave in the names of four of the characters as they are basically based on my four best mates..."

Ooh, that is a toughy, do they know they are in the book? Why not let them read a bit and let them help you decide whether to change the names?

message 729: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments ?toughy, toughie, tuffy, either way, you get my drift!

message 730: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments They know they're in it and I think they trust me enough not to misrepresent their inherent brilliance. And I do kind of like the idea of having my mates as characters in a book I've written...

message 731: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments If they are comfortable with it then I see no reason not to leave them as themselves!

message 732: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments That's what I think. I may see what Rebeccas says as she obviously knows them too!

message 733: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You've got 4 whole bezzy mates? You're showing off!

message 734: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments An interview with me about the writing process and other things on a wonderful new writing/review site: http://bit.ly/Lo4ub2

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Just saw it on facebook - great interview.

message 736: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Cheers! A quarter of the way through my revision of The Bird That Nobody Sees now - still looking good for 30th July release!

message 737: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I saw it on Twitter because I'm now a twa...what's the words for someone who tweets?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments a bird?

message 739: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Well Rebecca has read the first draft! The process is moving on!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So people are starting to see The Bird That Nobody Sees...

message 741: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Not quite!! She did have a few suggestions which I have taken on board. About two-thirds now through the first revision. I will then implement Rebecca's suggestions and do the formatting before submitting to the grammar queen for approval! And I've sorted out the composition for the cover. Just hope I can bring it together. Still looking good for 30th July though!

message 742: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Exciting stuff Stu :-)

message 743: by Stuart (new)

message 747: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I tried to write a normal book but it just didn't happen! Actually, I didn't try to write a normal book at all. I guess it is what it is!!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments maybe I should see it through a haze of cheap wine.
