Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Cheers lady!

message 609: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah. It made me sigh, sort of. Love your point of view on things, probably because I share them. ;)
The Band is one of Dave's faves, BTW.
I think you'd really enjoy going through Dave's weird and wonderful music collection.

message 610: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I'm sure I would! Rick Danko is my absolute hero!!

message 611: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, okay. Whoever that is...I did say Dave. ;)

Let me give you an idea of his most recent cd purchases. He goes on a music spree every holiday.

Alex Harvey Band, Boobie Brothers, Trees, Groundhogs, Some weird name written in cursive on the case that I can't make out, Espers, Trembling Bells, Lindisfarne, Hot Tuna, Spirit.

Nothing if not eclectic.

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Rick Danko is the bass player in The Band and sings the most heartbreaking song ever - "It Makes No Difference." - Although the Boobie brothers sound maginificent, do you mean the Doobie brothers?

message 613: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hehe. Yeah, them too.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments heheheheheheh! Nice one Patti!

Vic Heaney (vic_heaney) | 689 comments Hello Stuart

Just started reading Cannery Row. I agree that you have elements of Steinbeck in you. It struck me immediately, this being the first time I have read one of his books since I "met" you.

message 621: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The cursive script band I mentioned. Rather haunting and beautiful I think. Not listened to much yet, though.

Love having a snuggle while listening to music. :)

message 624: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I think you are better than Steinbeck Stuart :o) His The Grapes of Wrath freaked me out a bit at the end.

message 625: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments The endings is incredible! Such a shame they watered it down for the film. And thank you Jud!!

message 626: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Did you join in Skype last night Stu? I'm gutteed I missed it. I only got home at 9.30 cause we went to the pub afterwards and even then I had to leave early cause I was the only one with work the next morning :o(

message 627: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Jud, we missed you. Although the Urban Dictionary had to be used even without you there!!!!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Oh dear, I'm gutted I missed it. I won't be able to make it next week either :o(

message 629: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments And yep Stu did join us too! Aw Jud. You'll have to start doing what I do and become very unsociable on a Thursday night!! I even have it in my diary (blackberry) every week so I don't double book. I am very very sad indeed !!!!

message 630: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Haha! Unfortunately Thursday seems to be the night that the girls are all free so I'm quite often out. But in-laws are over next week for a visit so I can't be unsociable to them

message 631: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Nope fair enough!! I will let you off for next week then :-)

message 632: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I was there Jud - it certainly was an interesting experience!

message 633: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Never have I felt more sane or more sober! ; )

message 634: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I think we should start alternating the nights some weeks though so people who can't usually make Thursdays could join in.

message 640: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Pfffft. GL. You lot don't need me there to be mad.

How could we sort a time for you to join, Katie? You're 12 hours behind? In front? Of the UK, yeah?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yeah Katie - you'll have to come and live over here so you can join in! You can stay with my New Zealand friend Katie in Edinburgh.

message 642: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments I think we're 7hrs ahead of you at the moment...so your evening is my snoretime. I'd love to come and live in Scotland, Gingerlily, but I don't think my husband and kids would approve.

message 643: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Well it's 10:30 am here now.

Your 10.30am is our 5.30pm...so I suppose I'd better go and make some dinner.

message 646: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We could do a Sunday afternoon skype sometime then. Then you could join in!
