Amos Cassidy | 6 comments Abarat by Clive Barker. His books are surreal. I love how I am totally transported into any world he creates and no matter how crazy it gets nothing ever seems impossible.

I love the cover, too! The book is awesome, I'm almost done with re-reading it. It starts out light then gets darker and grittier. The characters are pretty kick-ass too!

I read that last year. Its such a difficult subject to write about and I thought the author did a fantastic job. You are right though you, you need to pick this one up with an open mind.

Hmmm...I don't think they are simiar, but that's just me. Aria is quite a strong character, unlike Bella, who is just annoying. And Meadows is much more poetic than Meyers ever was.

SOOO many reviewers compare books to Twilight, books that aren't similar in any way other than a possible love triangle. Some Twilight fans are a little too obsessed if they find similarities in the tiniest details. I usually ignore those reviews because they are nonsense.

Yeah people need to realize that Twilight wasn't the first book ever made and that not every book can be compared to twilight!

message 131: by Alice (last edited Apr 09, 2012 07:22PM) (new)

Alice I hope it is okay if I say more then one...

If you only ever read one book(series) by Garth Nix start with:
Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1) by Garth Nix
Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) by Garth Nix
Abhorsen (Abhorsen, #3) by Garth Nix
I think it is a great fantasy series. I've read it several times and am due for another read soon as the storyline is getting foggy in my brain. lol

His other series are good too.

I've read all those books and they are great. His 7th Tower series The Fall (The Seventh Tower, #1) by Garth Nix is good too and if you like fantasy, Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1) by Garth Nix and the following in that series are my favorite books of his.

I've never heard of Jaclyn, so I will now have to look them up!

Eva Has anybody read Looking for Alaska or/and The Perks of Being a Wallflower? If not, I can totally recommend them! I'd even say that these books changed my life (I mean the way how I see things now).
Another book I LOVE is Isola by Isabel Abedi . It is written by a german writer so I don't know if it has ever been published in english. But everyone who speaks german should definitely go for it.
