I found the idea for this challenge at another group and I thought of sharing with you! It's great! The challenge is to read a total of 100,000 pages! Any book is acceptable.

Join in and post your progress! Feel free to post a new post for each update!
Good luck! :)

********************************
Steps to finding out Books/Pages read in 2012:

1. Click on the "My Books" link at the top of the page.

2. On the My Books page you will see "You have ... books" and then add books and stats. Click on STATS.

3. One the Stats page you are able to see initially how many books you have read and can click on the "pages" button to see how many pages you've read so far in this year.

Marie | 43 comments It's funny how GRs have so many options specially since I'm a new member. My count is 607 so far. Thanks for the guidelines!

Thanks Amalie for posting the steps! Ok, so if I'm understanding correctly, this is a lifetime challenge and I can count all the books I've ever read? Is that right??

My total so far: 1040(but I started those last year.)
8115 in 2011!

I've been here for a while and I still didn't know about this!

MountainAshleah (mountainshelby) Interesting. I like the pie chart, too. 8710 in 2011, which is okay I suppose since I am slave to the job and commute. (Grumble)

Yes, I guess. At least it is for me. My total so far: 837 pages :) Not bad at all considering I've been busy.

Last year, it's 26877!

Frank Dedge Page count is one thing but what about word count instead? To me, they are much more relevant as it doesn't care about the font types, layouts or else. Reading pages after pages of poetry, for instance, is not the same as reading a dictionary in term of density.

This being said, the info on the number words for a book is not easy to find so maybe page count is an easier objective.

Didn't cross my mind till you pointed it out. But I don't think there's a practical way of finding the word count in the books but yes, what about the picture books. Many pages but few words.

Will Oprisko | 9 comments I do not think there is a perfect method of measuring quantity or quality of our reading. Most of the books we list through goodreads include pages that are partially filled, blank, or part of the bibliography and/or index. It would be best to view these statistics as indicators of our own habits of reading, rather than absolute measurements of our accomplishments.

Will Oprisko | 9 comments According to goodreads, I've read 5,950 so far this year and an estimated 77,819 pages since 1996. Of course, this number does not include all the books I've ever read and it does not account for partial readings of books I did not finish. Nevertheless, it is an interesting look at how much I've read and what I've read.
