The synopsis for this - and for two other English language editions of this book (ISBNs 1848874758 and
1848872119) - are in French.
The above edition seems to be the one most widely on sale in the UK at the moment.

You already have an English language synopsis for the book shown under this edition: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70... (ISBN 0802170773)

ETA: My copy, which is the one shown in the topic, has this synopsis on the back, as shown for the Kindle edition: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11... (minus the words "a prostitute and murderer"; ie it just says "Zara is on the run")

Matthew (swint) | 14 comments Here's another example. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14... (ISBN 057507681X)

The language is listed as English for this version, but the synopsis is in some foreign language.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments That's generally because someone has set a foreign language as default

Matthew (swint) | 14 comments Even if the data is being pulled from Amazon, as is the case with the example I posted?

message 5: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Yes if you look at the book edit page you will see some one changed the default description

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Re 1 and 2 - changed to english descriptions

Antonomasia | 514 comments Do the changes take a while to show up?

The two editions of "Purge" whose ISBNs I mentioned are now in English - thanks! :)

But the first one, at the top of the thread, is still in French, and A Scanner Darkly is still in Turkish.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Sorry - I got side tracked with something else - they are sorted now

message 9: by Moloch (new)

Moloch | 3975 comments I'd say that the ideal situation should be the "default" description in the original language of the book and each edition in a different language with the proper description. As a rule I tend to be very cautious in setting a description as default because I find it very upsetting when it doesn't match the language.

Antonomasia | 514 comments Thank you :)
