Robin Knight Unimagined

I have read many biographies over the years as I find it fascinating reading accounts of how ordinary people grow up in a variety of places and how they overcome problems that occur and especially what they think about as they go through them. I found Unimagined a book that I just didn’t want to put down until I had finished. It is very well written and keeps the readers attention all the time. I enjoyed it so much that I actually wanted to contact the author, Imran Ahmed to thank him for his insights and see where he was currently at.

The book maps out his upbringing in an Islamic household, his schooling, university and early work experiences. In his journey he discovers a variety of people and some Christians and we read how he deals with the different creeds of both faiths. Many people will relate to his journeying. This is intermingled with his ‘love life’, that is for both cars and girlfriends and also his career path. These are all the normal part of growing up experiences of a young person and are easily related to, bringing back memories of the readers own background.

As a Christian for over fifty years I found his insights very interesting, challenging, humorous and captivating and would recommend the book to a wide variety of audiences. Where does his faith base end up? Read the book and be encouraged by it. The end may surprise you, but it should certainly enlarge your thinking.
