Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments Can you imagine being Terri's doctor?? And telling her what to do? Anyway, better listen Terri so we can have you back with us.

message 2357: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (drokka) | 2675 comments Methinks you need a masseur. Additional bonus would be an appealing accent, attractive features (to you) and a deep calming voice. If you don't have one of those handy, get a heat pad, lie back on the bed and imagine it. Let it all relax. An alternative to the individual described could be your spouse.

message 2358: by Tim (new)

Tim Hodkinson (timhodkinson) | 577 comments It seems counter-intuitive, but I would recommend swimming. In many cases this is excellent for back problems due to the water supporting your body weight and letting the bones in your spine take a bit of a rest and separate out a bit. I was having terrible trouble with a collapsed disc in my neck (old rugby injury)and a session in the pool helped it tremendously.

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks everyone for wishing me well. :) And for the compliments.

..and Bobby, I'll have you know that I am actually a passive person and I will do whatever a doctor tells me to do.

Thanks for missing me guys. I miss chatting to you all. And I miss reading!! The pain is such that sitting and reading or being on the computer is not fun. Then there are the pain killers. They make reading a sickening expereince.

Can you all imagine?? NO Reading for days!! Sacre bleu!!! Nothing but staring at a tv and a myriad of mind numbing reality tv shows.
I even sat through the final movie in the twilight Saga today. :(

My Doctor better have a magic cure for my back when I make my appointment this week!

message 2365: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments Glad to hear you'll listen to the docs. I have a feel good movie for you if you HAVE to watch one...Heart and Soul w/an early Robert Downey, Jr. I would never have bothered watching it but my kids had it on and it truly lifted me up. Take care.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 1505 comments She's watching Twilight????

What if it isn't her back? What if it's neurologic??? What if it's PSYCHIATRIC????

message 2368: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (drokka) | 2675 comments A strict audio book therapeutic treatment must be immediately commenced. It must be strongly focused on Historical Fiction as we wouldn't want something like Fifty Shades of any colour to slip in.

message 2369: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Wow, I can't believe she confessed to that one. Reruns of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' have to be better than that. :)

It must be the drugs! Hahaha. Hope something better comes on soon Terri!

message 2372: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) I was expecting something like documentaries on WWII or maybe some marvel comic movie but Twilight?? ;)

message 2373: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (drokka) | 2675 comments Maybe someone who knew she can barely move set it up as some sort of torture implement, and she didn't have time to explain that before they returned?

message 2374: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) And she dropped the remote and couldn't change the channel......that must be it. :)

LOL!!

Maybe the movie isn't so bad? No. Wait. What am I saying!

Who would do this vile thing to our Terri?

message 2377: by Jane (new)

Jane | 3480 comments Terri, what about CDs--instead of that horrible tv?

message 2378: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments *weeps* but there was nothing else on tv but those corny vampires. :( I had flicked through every channel. I was drugged up. Wanted something mind numbing to stare at that I didn't need to think about.
A movie! I thought. A movie will work! It didn't. Well not that one anyway. It just made me cranky.
But it was better than all the Housewives of Atlanta/Beverley Hills/OC/Miami shows on the other channels. :/

I think I will buy that movie Argo on pay per view today.

Still not very mobile yet. Have a physio appointment in two days. Hoping they will give me some answers.

I think back injuries are something we have all been through isn't it? Such a common thing. The real annoying thing is being immobile. So bored. And I have eaten far too much ice cream. :(

Terri | 19576 comments Jane wrote: "Terri, what about CDs--instead of that horrible tv?"

I have to admit. I am one of those people that prefers tv to music. I have to be in the mood for music. :-)

message 2381: by Jane (new)

Jane | 3480 comments Gosh, I can find very little on the tv that's to my taste. I am enjoying Vikings but it's a struggle to keep awake at such a late hour -- 10-11 pm.
Also, I enjoy reruns of M*A*S*H. :)

message 2382: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) I find way too much that I like. I'm always torn between my shows and my books. :)

message 2383: by Jane (last edited Apr 10, 2013 08:54AM) (new)

Jane | 3480 comments Oh -- w/ me I'm a heavy CD user, plus Netflix subscriber. My taste in movies is, shall we say, eclectic and even eccentric. Books it goes without saying! What I read is based on my mood at the time.

message 2384: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) Used to be a big movie fan before I got digital TV. Now I 'tape' all my shows and watch them at my leisure so I don't bother with movies anymore. I do love MASH too.

I'm also a mood reader, I usually have somewhere between 5 and 10 books on the go at the same time because I pick to fit my mood. :)

message 2385: by Monica (last edited Apr 10, 2013 01:54PM) (new)

Monica Davis For anyone interested, there's a new 4-part series beginning today on PBS. NOVA program titled: Australia:First 4 Billion Years

Program Description
Of all the continents on Earth, none preserves a more spectacular story of our planet's origins than Australia. NOVA's four-part "Australia's First 4 Billion Years" takes viewers on a rollicking adventure from the birth of the Earth to the emergence of the world we know today. With help from host and scientist Richard Smith, we meet titanic dinosaurs and giant kangaroos, sea monsters and prehistoric crustaceans, disappearing mountains and deadly asteroids. Epic in scope, intimate in nature, this is the untold story of the land "down under," the one island continent that has got it all. Join NOVA on the ultimate Outback road trip, an exploration of the history of the planet as seen through the window of the Australian continent.

I'm usually, say, 2 or 3 at the same time. Plus, Ruth Downie's Ruso series I can always reread, if I want some hf plus humor.

I always have one audio book going, one on my kindle, and one paper book, just in case electronics fail me!

Terri | 19576 comments I watched the movie The Avengers last night. Really enjoyed it. They did a good job with The Hulk. :-)

message 2390: by Jane (new)

Jane | 3480 comments When you said The Avengers, my first thought was of the old Diana Rigg tv series -- Emma Peel and John Steed. :)

Definitely. I did wonder if it was going to be any good for the first half hour or so. Loki was carrying the film at that stage..but then all the characters started to lift it.

message 2396: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I hear that for some people in some countries Goodreads was out for approx 6 hours recently. Yesterday or 'today' depending on your country,

I never had a problem here in Oz.
If you did have the outage apparently it was because GR used GoDaddy as their DNS and GoDaddy went down. So GR has now changed to another DNS (no doubt the Amazon one).

message 2397: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments Is anyone else inundated with pop-ups now? I have them everywhere all of a sudden.

message 2398: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments No mate. I have pop ups blocked, but I have heard other people in the Goodreads Feedback group complaining about pop ups.

GR says that they are not allowed, so for those who know how to, take a screenshot with the pop up on the screen and let GR know. They will shut them down.

message 2399: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Apr 13, 2013 06:49PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments By the way Bobby, are they pop up ads? Or are they pop up GR features.
There is a new 'recommend to friends' feature that is a pop up now.
It doesn't pop up for me (I guess because I have pop ups blocked) so I am not sure what triggers it to pop up.

message 2400: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments I'll have to pay more attention as to what they are for. I erase them without checking. This time, of course, there are none.
