Random Thoughts
D, are you the D who commented on my Mary Rose post? I thought it was you, but I figured I better not act like I knew you too much in case it was some other random 'd'. :)

To post on your own blog. - On Blogspot you click either 'new post' at the top, or you go to..."
Post a comment lol
Looking at people's comment sections on Blogger. Is it right to assume that unless you are signed up with one of the options you can't post on people's blogs? Those options being.

OMG, if you're asking me we're gonna be in trouble. :)I have a 'Blogger' account. When I go to the Blogger Dashboard I see my picture, name and all the blogs I follow. I can add to my follow list by putting the URL in the add box. It also seems to add them automatically to my follow if I'm signed in when I subscribe from the blog page.
Alas, no. I am certain you will eventually get random ones though if you keep writing and people link it through some social networking sites.

I don't even know what most of them are.lols
I also have an igoogle account that I can use, if you subscribe to it with that then it comes up on your custom google homepage. You don't have to be a part of any of these to get a 'live bookmark'. Which you can also do by subscribing on the blog page but pick ATOM. It will automatically add it to you bookmarks and then when you hover over the bookmark you can see if there are any new posts.
D investigated and now I have put a 'follow via email' link on my blog. So that way you need only put your email in and you will get an email, I guess, everytime I post a new blog post. Now the pressure is on to think of interesting ramblings on history. YIKES.
Although, I think if I scroll back in this thread to when I posted my blog link Dawn did make some requests for era. lol.
Now I have to decide how many blog posts a week are appropriate. I was thinking two a week...plus whatever book reviews I do.
I only know how to comment on blogs that allow me the option of: name, email, website. Those IDs that you list... if those are the options, can't comment. It's crappy.
I wonder if there is a way I can open it up to name email folk too. I was worried that that may allow spammers and such to post.
And my lovely WordPress site takes care of spam for me. I only have to 'moderate' comments that are real comments. How that works, I don't know; such is the functionality and smooth running.
If you are with wordpress you can comment on my posts...and I on yours...I think they allow cross pollination.
Nah. I don't have a WordPress blog to enter there. We've used WordPress to build a site. But here I don't what I'm talking about so shutting up.
hahaha!! Well you are in good company. I don't think many of us know what the heck we're talking about. What's the saying?
Jack of all trades, master of none
I think that sums us all up. ;)
Nice new moderator title, Dawn. The Canadian motto. nice one.(of course I had to google it to see what it was..:)..)
It seemed just a bit more me than the last one. :)If you put yours in latin....hic ad ceruisiam mecum et occasionibus adepto sh#tfaced....it comes out pretty good. :)
I just added a link to our groups Listopia recommended reading list to my blog. As I initially set the blog up to be connected at the hip to this group, I am glad I am able to add links like that.

Or at least the ability for members to link blog posts to their feed/updates direct from blogs, like authors have.
Just thought I'd share a book I just found for free on amazon com.http://www.amazon.com/Treason-ebook/d...
They don't often have straight historical fiction as freebies, but this looks good.
Treason
Leslie wrote: "Well the answer is that we all become authors. :)"Lol. Pass. It is hard enough work being a non author.!
Terri wrote: "That's a good freebie. Did you post the freebie in the freebie thread? I shall check."There is a freebie thread?
Terri wrote: "There most certainly is. :-) http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/8..."
Ahhhh. I so rarely go into the author's section that I didn't realize that was there.
Book has been added. :)
Just saw a post by Giles Kristian that his books may be made into movies... I have not read them yet though they are on the to-read list.I wonder if I should wit to read them until I have seen the movie?
I have read the first two in the series and I think they would translate well to film. Depending on how the film is done, you may not need to read the books. Personally, I prefer reading a book before seeing a film, but others here will not do one without the other.(I apologise for the lack of contractions, but my computer went French on me and I do not know where my apostrophe is now...time for a reboot...)
I read the first one and did not like it. Coincidentally though, as in funny you should bring it up, I was thinking of maybe including it in an upcoming Group Read poll (shhh..secret). This would make me reread it if it won and I think I would like to give it another try as Viking hist fic is hard enough to come by and I WANT to WANT to read the other two books in the series only I don't want to because I didn't like book one. :/ A reader's dilemma.

Just start out with the next. If you don't like it you can always stop. I felt that way about the Bernard Cornwell Uthred series--I forget the names of the books. I didn't like the first one but they got better as they went.
I have thought about doing that, but then I can't remember what happened in the last half of book one. So, I think I have to reread at some stage. It may help me like book two to remember what happened in the back end of book one.
Hmm..Don't know. Maybe. If I decide to put it in an upcoming Group Read Poll I will definitely reread it. If it loses the poll I will hunt for a synopsis. :)
Life us too short to read books you don't like Terri, let alone reread them! You'll never get through your TBR list if you do that.I like to read the book before the movie, as the books are often better and sometimes makes the film easier to follow. I like this series and will be interested to see if they do a good job of the films.
Chris F wrote: "Life us too short to read books you don't like Terri, let alone reread them!"These words should be inscribed on marble at the entrance of each, and all, libraries!!
Haha. Well we'll see. May look for a synopsis and try and read book two at some stage. Time will tell.

The trick is for the author to strike the right balance of info to give--not too much, not too little.
Jane wrote: In the current book you're reading, there is usually some reference to what happened in the previous book or books in the series...."Is anyone else bothered by an author's inconsistent timeline in a series? I'm reading the Maureen Ash Templar series, and in book 2 an incident clearly happened in the winter (snow & cold), but in the beginning of book 3 she refers back to that incident as happening in the summer. (And now you'll all have to read those 2 books to see what I'm talking about...lol!)
