I am here. Just not as often as I was. I am also a writer and a lot of the time I used to spend on here is now spent on marketing my books across social media.

I'm a really fussy mood reader so I probably wouldn't have joined them. I very rarely buddy read. But I know that a lot of readers love those. What if you started a thread about potential books to BR? Maybe some would join in!

Just got back from 12 days in Europe - the weather for the most part cooperated We only had day and a half of rain/mist and that was in London.

We lost a day in London because our flight was an hour late leaving SLC and we only had a 45 min layover at JFK. Mrs Happy got a notice from Delta as we were landing at JFK that our London flight had departed. They booked us on an Virgin Atlantic flight that left about 4 hrs later, but that basically killed the first day in London.

Got tickets on one of the sightseeing tour buses and ended up going to the Tower (the couple we went with really wanted to see it) and to Portobello (as in the mushroom) Street in the Notting Hill area of London (basically a large flea market). We also did a Thames Riverboat tour in conjunction with the Tower. That was interesting. I did get to see the Globe Theater from the river.

Scotland was everything I hoped. One word of warning - they only allow a limited nr of people in Edinburgh Castle per day. We went up about noon Saturday and they were already sold out. We immediately booked a tour for Sunday and were able to get in. I was in heaven. As a military history buff, there were not one, not two, but three different military museums. Two regimental and the the Scottish National war museum, plus the Scottish war memorial. It was fun to wander around. We went to Sterling Castle the next day and it was better IMHO, not so crowded. When we couldn't get into the castle, we wandered down the Royal Mile ( a shopping street that runs from the Castle down to Holyrood Palace. We then took in the Scottish National Art Gallery. The gallery was free and worth every penny . I must have spent 3 - 4 hours there. A word of warning about the castles - they are both quite a climb from the train stations, doable, but fairly steep and on cobble stone road as that

We flew Ryan Air from Edinburgh to Copenhagen. Work of warning - don't, they nickel and dime you to death. There is a reason the flights are so cheap!

Copenhagen was great. Again we took the sightseeing bus tour and went from there. Also took a harbor/canal tour. Saw the "Little Mermaid" statue from both the sea and the land. We wandered through the old citadel. It is an old star fort (built in the 1600s), but it still used by the Danish Military. There are guards posted at one entrance, but not the other. The grounds are just beautiful! The tulips were out which added to the beauty. We also stopped and went into Tivoli Garden amusement park, it is right in downtown Copenhagen, again wonderful gardens in addition to all the rides ( of which we did not partake ). Supposedly Walt Disney got the inspiration for Disneyland from Tivoli.

My main memory of Denmark will be the bicycles - everybody is riding one. The bike lanes are built into the streets and God forbid you are walking in one when a cyclist comes by. At a minimum you will get a dirty look/scowl. Other than the bike lanes. everyone was pleasant, spoke English and went out of their way to be helpful.

Well worth the time - must make time to go again.

For the most part, we stayed in AirBnBs and had delightful hosts. I've really come to prefer them to regular hotels

We loved Edinburgh, also, especially the Castle.
The audio tour enhanced the experience!! Sounds like crowds are a bigger challenge now, than when we were there.

Nice one happy! Picked some great sites to visits, Copenhagen is a lovely city to visit as is Edinburgh & glad the weather held for you as it's been mostly shocking (wet) on the isles for the past month, or at least in the south, where I am, it has.

I agree with the audio tour - well worth what we spent for it.

We also got one for Sterling, but there was a castle sponsered tour with a guide that was better-and was included with the price of admission :)

Of the 2 days in London 1 1/2 of them were rainy/misty :)

We may have crossed paths as we got back on Sunday. Did a 12 day British Isles cruise and 4 days in London. Last year we did the cruise and there were some changes in the itinerary this time. We also bought our Edinburgh tickets ahead of time this year.

My travels this year have been entirely Family focused:
March in VA to visit my sister-in-law, also recently
widowed
April in SC to see my grandson play college baseball
had lunch with Diane B. Love connecting in person
June in Charleston with a high school friend, widowed
4 months before me & stayed with my daughter
Glad to be home to enjoy our summer!!

I asked that same question a year or two ago! If I'm not mistaken, she stepped away for unknown reasons. The member that responded to me said that she still talked to Terri on Facebook.
