Hi Terri, long time no see! I have Covid right now, but I am one of the lucky people with few or no symptoms, so all is well. Italy, and Lombardy, where I live, are in the full of the 2nd wave, it is almost impossibile not to catch it.
Luckily, my family is fine - I am isolated from them as much as possible and it seems to be working.
I think you are right: people tend to be in denial or shell-shocked.
Be safe everybody, expecially if you have a prior pulmonary condition. Thinking of @Andy here.

Actually, not really. Most part of the people infected seem to be asymptomatic or paucisymptomatic - me for instance.I have to be patient because thousand of people have to be tested every day and I have to wait for my turn.
I remind myself daily that lounging on the sofa and reading can't be considered such a sacrifice....

Gee, I thought most of you guys had moved over to Facebook. I don’t do Facebook or Twitter because for me it was getting to be depressing and/or irritating. So I’m very happy to discover you’re still around or as an ex-Texan - Y’all are still here! :)
😄😄😄😄 yes, Marilyn, nice to hear from you too! I am not on Facebook nor Twitter. Just Instagram, that I use also for work. I usually don't have much time, so I lurk around and I read what you brilliant people write.

Its weird the way we all just went quiet in a time like this!
Damn, Simona! That's so lucky you are not having the severe symptoms. Phew. How long do they say you have to wait before getting retested? And how do you isolate from the family? Have you had to lock yourself in a room and have minimal contact with them?

Well, I finally have a use for all the masks I made earlier this year, as we now have to wear them at work, unless at our desks. I have the most colourful and decorative masks in the place. I picked out really pretty material! Figured if I was going to have them , they were going to be nice.
We did really good during the first wave but we;re having some trouble keeping the cases down for the second. Hopefully it won't be terrible. We're expecting more restrictions today though.

Masks have rapidly become attractive accessories here. I have about 12-15 different masks. I just got a set from the London Transport Museum in the mail.
Helloooo! I’m glad so many are checking back in! I’m reading as part of my withdrawal... US politics have left me exhausted. The shenanigans being tried by the WHITE HOUSE feel like they’re from a crime novel. Wishing you all well! Stay safe!
Oh, May - You and I both so far as US politics go! I mute the TV whenever I can. Peace! Give me peace! This nonsense is going to go on until Jan 20. Then there’s the virus to deal with and hypocritical politicians who want us to mask up and stay home while they flitter about and go where they want! Sheeesh!
oh Simona! You got Covid, so sorry to hear but in a way relieved you have only the mild version and wishing you a full and speedy recovery and thanks for thinking of me xoxo. I'm all good, I've pretty much been hibernating since second lockdown, gathering nuts and such like :D
I feel the same as you Terri. I have been reading the second last Uhtred book for so long, I’ve forgotten it’s name! I just can’t get into anything I have to think to hard about. I scroll on Facebook but not much activity. I did spend the last 2 days in Sydney and went to my fave book store both days, which is my happy place. But I hope everyone is well, and Simona, glad to hear you are doing ok.

I commandeered the living room...I sleep on a sofa, but I have lots of books to read, a TV that I seldom use and a kitchenette..I posted a couple of pics in my profile! My family uses the bigger kitchen on the ground floor and the dining room, and they don't enter the bathroom that I am using.
I am closed here since November the 7th, hopefully next week they will call me to be tested; otherwise, after 20 days I should be able to end the quarantine.

So sorry to hear, Simona! But glad you’re comfortable as possible and doing well! Guess we were all quiet because there’s not much to talk about if you’re locked down and not much going on lol.
I did work throughout the first lockdown but there’s only two of us in the office and we each have our own, plus the boss was bleaching down the bathrooms and kitchen area every night.
Michigan had entered into a three week (not as strict) lockdown...started two days ago. But I’m off work for the season anyway so I’m home (I work for a pool company). I only go to my sister’s because I’m her babysitter. She’s a dental assistant but there’s only her and the dentist there right now....they have to wear two masks and a shield. So far, everyone I love has been healthy and happy :) Thanksgiving will just be us and our mom this year (which secretly I’m happy about lol).
Hi everyone, I am so rarely on the Discussion Boards anymore and I do miss it. :) I just want to wish all my American neighbours a very Happy Thanksgiving. However it is your celebrating it, be safe and I wish you all many things to be grateful for!

Makes sense.
I wondered what had happened to everyone. I thought maybe you'd all discovered crime novels...or sci-fi...I've been three days a week back at work but otherwise working hard on my extra-curricular activities.
I understand the why of Black Friday. I even have friends who go down to Bellingham to start shopping at midnight, they stay up all night. I think they are crazy. I am quite happy to stay home and shop here. Maybe should do less shopping actually. Save my money. :)

Okay, only one. The rest are Canadian Literature.
No one voted in the Goodreads Best books of 2020 then..... I see us fellahs had an equal representation in the Historical Fiction section lols
Andy wrote: "No one voted in the Goodreads Best books of 2020 then..... I see us fellahs had an equal representation in the Historical Fiction section lols"Voted in the first round, hadn’t read any of the books which went through to the final.
Andy wrote: "No one voted in the Goodreads Best books of 2020 then..... I see us fellahs had an equal representation in the Historical Fiction section lols"The only one I voted for in any category was the one by Isabel Allende. I thought historical fiction selections were pretty disappointing as a whole.
I also voted. Not sure if what I voted for were the best in the category but I had read them at least. I voted for The Pull of the Stars in HF.
Although several are on my list to read or are downloaded to read soon, I have not read any of the books on the lists 🥴🥺
I didn't voteI want to wish all those who reside in the US a very Happy and SAFE Thanksgiving!
We are just having the daughters for dinner. The big extended Family Dinner (my siblings and their families) at my Fathers has been scrapped. The extended family Christmas dinner is in a holding pattern.
I've gotten started on the Christmas shopping and decorating - the Lights are up on the house. Tomorrow will be putting all my collecton of David Winter Miniature Houses in the living room away for the season, so the Nativity sets, Santas and Angels can come out. We still get a "Real" Christmas tree every year, and the plan is to get that next week end.
As with the Thanksgiving I want to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Christmas and Holiday Season
Wishing my American friends a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! To my friends from around the globe, I wish a safe & healthy day!!
I voted for a few, but I can't even remember if I voted in the final. I only recognised maybe 3 entries.
Merry Christmas everyone. Or Happy Holidays if Christmas/Yule is not your jam or not celebrated in your culture.(I don't celebrate it in a religious way. We celebrate it as an annual celebration of giving and fun and consuming of vast quantities of food). :)
I did not get books this year. :-/ Bit concerning as I dropped numerous hints for the new Uhtred and the new Nigella. So, I acted out and got online for the Xmas sales and bought up big. :-) I'll have books for months now.
Terri, how could they ignore your books requests like that??? May I offer my strategy... I give the books I want to read to friends. When they reach out with “Thank yous”, I say I’d love to read it next!!! Works every time!!! Although, I agree, you had a great excuse to go shopping!!! Be well! Stay safe!
I realize this is late, but I hope everyone is having a very Happy Holiday season, had a Merry Christmas and will have a very Happy and prosperous New Year!On a more personal not so happy note, We had my daughters and grandkids up of the 23rd. To make along story short, my grandson tested positive for COVID the day after Christmas. Mrs Happy and I went and got tested yesterday and received our test results today - also positive. The symptoms have been very mild - more like a semi serious chest cold -no fever, a hacking cough and my voice dropped a couple of octives and got really growlly. Hopefully all will be well by the week end :)
Good luck, Happy. I had Covid in November, in a mild form: low fever, backache, most symptoms went away in around a week. Take care, I wish you and your wife to be in good health very very soon.
