From my personal experience I would agree with her. Since I don't drink, alcohol is not a problem :)

I was taught that many, many years ago. Whenver you feel hungry, drink a glass of water. It trains the brain and body into that being the response to hunger and the cravings are less intense.
Welcome back, Adrian.

Like Marilyn, I never weigh myself. Never ever. I judge my weight loss from my clothes also.
Back in the day, when I used to weigh myself, as a woman, we have days where we can be on a diet and be eating little and feel like we have lost weight, only to get on a scale and see we've put it on or lost nothing. If you are a stress eater like me, seeing failures on the scales is enough to make me go, "well stuff it, I may as well eat some icecream!".

Aw. That's lovely. I do that, but its an Aussie country girl thing, I think. I am a bit like that sce..."
The Midwest of the US is like that too.
Bit annoying actually :P
You’re required to say it back, it’s exhausting :D

Reading wise, get some chunksters off my tbr.
Diet wise....eat more donuts! (In my defense, I was replying before flipping over to this new page where you all are talking about diets! I wish you all luck!)
Anything else wise....never make any.

Would love to learn but won’t make that a resolution! Tried Polish in 2019....wont make that mistake again lol.

Sounds more like Japanese water torture.
I’m never thirsty. The last two months I’ve been trying to drink more water....ugh, it feels like my body is drowning inside itself! Why is drinking the elixir of life so hard?!?!

I tried with Welsh but gave it up. I never could make a complete sentence but I DO know how to pronounce it, even ll and rh, so it wasn't a complete loss.

The gist is.............
I believe the best health advice can be boiled down to 48 words.
So what are these 48 words? In no particular order:
Don’t smoke (2).
Get vaccinated (4).
Avoid trans fats (7).
Replace saturated fats with unsaturated if you can (15).
Cook from whole ingredients — and minimize restaurant meals (23).
Minimize ultraprocessed foods (26).
Cultivate relationships (28).
Nurture sleep (30).
Drink alcohol at most moderately (35).
Exercise as often as you can enjoy (42).
Drink only the calories you love (48).

I do all those things except for 'exercise as often as you enjoy'. But that's only a temporary thing because its too bloody hot to exercise outside at this time of year. :)
I don't drink any alcohol and I only drink water or hot beverages like tea and coffee. No juice or sugar drinks. Only water. I've been doing that for about four years now.

These were the treats I baked for our Christmas table.
Photo 1: Christmas Fruit Cake on the cake stand. My husband's attempt at a gingerbread house in the Australian pitched roof style ;-) in the background.
Photo 2: Mini Puddings, iced biscuits/cookies and two kinds of Fudge in the foreground. My traditional Xmas fudges - Chocolate Cherry Fudge and White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge.
Now go and drink your glasses of water and pretend you didn't see this.

Sure. I roll these same goodies out every year. :)

My blood sugar is rising just looking at the photos Terri.
Mind I was very good this Xmas, we didn’t rush out and buy loads of chocolates and sweets this Christmas.

Might be some cheap deals on. We'll probably lose a lot of tourist trade because the fires burned everything.
Some cheap flights to get tourists to come might be on the cards if anyone does want a holiday downnunder. :)

(As are the Canadians and Kiwis and whichever other countries have sent firefighters to help us, we need our allies in a time like this for sure).

Great idea! Just keep an eye on Qantas (then there are the other companies too). :-) I am sure throughout this year they will be having deals for overseas customers to give the tourist industry a kick.
They pasued this brand new Aussie Tourism/Kylie Minogue song because of the bushfires.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP-39...
It was brand new and targeted at the UK (the Poms), but then the fires struck hard and they have paused it until our country is in a better state to welcome tourists again. So i would say that's a good indicator of how things are paused with all aspects of the tourism industry right now.

Saw a few articles on Facebook where planes are dumping thousands of pounds of carrots and sweet potatoes for all the starving animals. This just has me beyond saddened 💔

Terribly sad.

We're having a bit of a winter storm here in Southern BC. Arctic outflow winds are making the temperatures around -10 (14F). With wind chill....-22 (-7.6F). Add some snow....
Totally not our kind of thing here, we're more about the rain!
My car doors froze shut, I had to crawl in the trunk (of a mini cooper!) to start it and then crawl out again. It took 20 minutes to thaw.
And now I have made it to work but the freeway is closed due to blowing snow (totally makes sense, I was driving 20kms (12 miles) and still couldn't see). Hopefully it opens again so I don't have to take the long way home.

The temperatures are way too cold for me though, I am happy that I have so many pairs of gloves. And scarves.
Also, very happy I decided to buy winter tires this year, they have been very helpful.
We'll be back to rain next week thankfully!!

A good samaritan snow blowed my driveway and side walk while I was on my walk. Neither I nor Mrs Happy have any idea who it was.

We've got snow flurries this morning (Tuesday). And it's supposed to snow a bit tomorrow when thousands of people are expected to be lining the streets for the parade to congratulate the KC Chiefs for their super bowl win.

How is the walking going?? Back up to the mileage you wanted yet??

Walking yesterday was an adventure - the snow was drifted in such a way that when I made a turn, I lost the sidewalk, stepped half on the curb and half in the gutter- fell and slammed my thigh on said curb. I got the beginnings of a nice bruse today :)
What a wierd storm - the Airport got more snow (just a hair under 9 inches) than the ski resorts: 4-8 inches. Normally the Ski resorts will get 3 or 4 times the snow as the airport

I'm glad you didn't break any bones, happy.

Glad you didn't break any bones, falls can be pretty bad. I fell in 2012, did a controlled fall, but landed on my thermos that was in my back pack, ended up with a fractured rib.
With the China virus in the AO, my walking and movie going has pretty much ceased. I'm up to 975 miles since 20 May, was hoping to hit 1000 miles by 20 Feb, but it looks like that's not going to happen now, just hope this virus outbreak peters out by mid march or early april so I can get going again.
