I'm starting to think this spam originator is prejudiced against Australians. I haven't gotten the SJP message yet. Aussies like sex in the city too you know!

However, I have gotten many: friend requests, then directing me to a site where I can download a copy of a book I have read. Has anyone else gotten these? I wondered if they are put there to put malware on a person's computer if they click on the link they give. I haven't.
Maybe the SJP message is just taking its time to go around the globe. I got it a few days ago, and I'm in Kansas.

Jane, I Flag those spam messages straight to Goodreads.
I get messages and friend requests with that spam message.
Flag them. Goodread will boot them.

Someone researched the Americans from upstate New York. They all have e-mails that originate from Russia. Read into that however you would like.
I'm a Thread Killer. :)I mentioned the 'T' word. Always a topic not to bring up, even when joking.
Moving on...

Ooh I had a response for that but I've been out of state at a training for work the last two and a half days.
Maybe some things are just better left unsaid.
For anybody who likes their gardening as well as their history. We just watched this great documentary.Monty Don's Paradise Gardens.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09p...
So enjoyable. He takes you through some important Islamic gardens that date to the 12th century. Well, at least the buildings do. The plants are long gone.
Although there are some gardens he goes to where the trees do date to the 17th century.
You know what's funny. Covers these days all seem to be images of peoples backs.I hadn't noticed it until I wrote a blog post on the A&M blog talking about my three latest hist fic purchases.
It was these three.
Now I am seeing it EVERYWHERE. haha!
Once upon a time I remember headless people in period costume were the fashion in cover images. Which was gaining much criticism because every cover was this same theme in the genre.
The fashion now is people's backsides. :)
For some books even multiple editions are sporting the character's back.
Well, just back from my five weeks in Europe culminating with Aus v France in Russia. Did some research for my sequel in Ireland and England and otherwise had a pretty brilliant time. Read some books - mainly not historical although nearly bought one of Conn Iggulden's WoTR books at an airport. Just couldn't do it as I found his Genghis Khan series pretty one dimensional. Instead bought something else which might be described as historical fantasy which has been brilliant (nearly finished). The Bedlam Stacks

Hey, some of those hot, buff, warrior men may have really nice backsides ;)
I support this trend lol.

It does seem to be the theme: also
I own & read recently.

Read some boo..."What a shame you had to clear out of there after Aus France. Although the next couple games don't have the drawing power of a Aus v France game. That was an interesting game. Not many shots on goal, but then France didn't do much better until well into second half.
Some of them are not too hard to look at I suppose, Allie. ;-)Jane, I'm thinking women authors are using the design the most! I saw so many when I was scrolling around looking at hist fic yesterday that it really was the thing that prompted me to post about it.
They should try and be a bit more unique...the publishers.
I think there are fads: I remember the upper body of a woman dressed in period costume, medieval or Elizabethan, the ubiquitous Roman soldier in books set in the Roman Empire, the statues [in the [author:Ruth Downie|2931] books], Right now I'm reading one with a great cover--and different:
The Encircling Sea. I love the colors--great for a hot summer :)--and the naval theme.
Terri wrote: "I really like that cover too. I also liked the cover before it.
"So did I. And the ubiquitous Roman soldier was a cavalryman this time.
Back in Valladolid taking our medical road show to a different Mayan village every day!! Wish I could post a pic but can’t figure it out!
What I learned this week:A factory reset made my ASUS tablet run like like new;
WOW--the Apple tablet (ipad?) is marvelous;
Triple Crown winner--far and few between!
Well, I finally got to see Gorky Park on YouTube. All things considered, I thought they did a good job with the screenplay but, of course, the book is better.
Bobby wrote: "Back in Valladolid taking our medical road show to a different Mayan village every day!! Wish I could post a pic but can’t figure it out!"If you upload it to your profile or to the groups photos you can just include a link if you find the 'inserting image' into a post is a bit tricky.
I've just had four days in a row of hiking long distances early in the morning in the freezing cold in steep country to try and get one - JUST ONE that's all I want!! - photo of an endangered bird.No luck. Now rain is due for about three days so I'll give my poor tired body a rest.
I left my bird hide in the rainforest. Hopefully it survives the rain front and the dingoes. :)

I am after that elusive little cutie the Black-breasted Button-quail.Very shy. Mostly show up in ones or twos. No big groups. Found in the thickest vine scrub and subtropical rainforest. I saw them a couple times a few years ago and I know they are still in that same place because their little scratching areas are there.
It's just such a hard/tiring place to get to that I've never given it a real go to get a photo.
Now I'm going to do it. I have taken my hide up and have it set up now. So I don't have to trek that through the bush. Next trip up there I just have to get up super early and get into that hide before sun up.
On my farm. Which is in the Mary Valley, Queensland. The site, which I'll call Spot X... is in really steep country. Can only be accessed from halfway there on foot. It's only about a 5.5 kilometre round trip (walk) to go there but it is not an easy walk, with steep hills and loose rock trails, and then through steep scrub.
My knees are sore from doing it every morning for four days. Like to get up there again tomorrow but my body needs a rest. Lol.
I don’t know much about Australia; I do know Brisbane is humid and less about Queensland. I do know it’s in the North. I must google it and try to find out more. I used to work with a girl whose mother married an American GI. She used to fly to Australia to visit her grandmother. From Los Angeles to AUS it was a 17 hour flight.
Has anyone heard anything from or about Margaret? She hasn't been on for a while. The last we heard she had some blood clots. i'm just wondering if she's doing ok. Anyone know how she's doing?
I was thinking exactly the same Tamara, i did drop her a note about a week back to ask how she was going but not had any reply so hope she's at home with her feet up
Andy wrote: "I was thinking exactly the same Tamara, i did drop her a note about a week back to ask how she was going but not had any reply so hope she's at home with her feet up"She's doing ok guys, should be back on deck soon probably.

She's been out of hospital for a while now. Active on Facebook but not ready to tackle more social media presence than that for the time being. She is gradually doing more and more activity. Starting to walk outside to improve lung capacity and exercise tolerance.
Hi guys, I'm back. Been out of hospital two weeks and back to work today.I get tired very easily. I'm hoping I'll manage a full day at work today.
No more long distance trips for me. I love London, but not enough to risk death for.
A real shame the clots in your lungs has put the brakes on your London trips. My hubby does overseas trips for his work even though he gets clots and has had them in legs and lungs before. He is now permanently on blood thinners but before he was on them permanently, he just did clexane shots in the stomach before and during his trip and he had no problem.

The very idea of giving myself injections gives me the webbies. I am hopeful I will only need the blood thinners for 3-6 months. The heme doctor at the hospital seemed to think it was a one off, no real risk of forming more clots.
