Random Thoughts
Venomous snakes are a part of my everyday life during 'snake seasons'. Living on a farm, it comes with the territory. We've killed three snakes in four days around the house.
One was in the house. A baby Brown Snake in the house two days ago. It came in under the door. We got a new door recently and it's a bit shorter than old door. We have to do a bit of carpentry to bring the stoop up higher. Its a job I've been hounding my hubby to do for months "gotta get it done by snake seaon" I kept telling him through Winter.
My husband is as bad as you, Robert, with snakes. So after the snake got in on the weekend within an hour he was fixing the stoop so no more snakes can get in under front door.
Won't listen to me, but if a snake gets in....suddenly he wants to fix things.
What Simona said. :-)All snakes are protected....but stuff that when they are in my house or at my front door and are one of the world's most venomous snakes.
Beyond the immediate house area they are safe. :-) We let them move on.
I caught a brown snake in my yard, put it in a box and let it go in the bush.Of course, I'm a tree-hugging greeny.
I am opposed to animals with more than four legs and less than two. They can prosper OUT of my house, thank you very much. ;-)

lol. Well, I'm no greenie, I'm a naturalist and an environmentalist. But I value my life and will not be catching brown snakes. :)
We have taken the tiny baby browns elsewhere. But once they get to a certain size, it is too dangerous.
Too far from a hospital here to do that!
Browns are not in danger on our farm, they are abundant. We're doing the local population a solid by reducing population pressure! :D
Simona wrote: "I am opposed to animals with more than four legs and less than two. They can prosper OUT of my house, thank you very much. ;-)"Ah, Centipedes. Now those ones we get inside the house from time to time. We don't know how they get in. But they have a nasty bite and, on average, are over 25 centimeters and quite scary looking. They don't move fast like snakes, so they are easy to scoop up and get rid of.
I know. When I first moved to this farm I had the horrors about them. Now I am cool with them. Wouldn't touch them and would scream if they crawled on me, but I don't fear them like I used to.
I've only seen Rattlesnakes ( the only poisonous snake around here) a couple of times - hiking in the mountains you have to be careful. They like to sun themselves on exposed rocks and that where a lot of hiking trails go :)On the storm front - our storm was 36 hrs late - it arrived late Saturday and lasted well into Sunday, but it was a big one. Some places in the valley got as much as 15 inches (about 35 cm or so) of snow - I got about 6 (10cm or so). The nice thing about "spring" storms is the snow melts fast - when I left for work this afternoon the snow on the yard was less than 3 in

Not bloody likely. Got a carpet snake shoved in my face on Sunday by it's handler. Who got told to go forth and multiply in basic Anglo-Saxon.

I do wonder, too, if he hadn't been diagnosed, whether the amount of research now done into the disease would have happened?
I think the disease was already pretty high on the list for finding a cure but the part I think he personally expanded was all the technology that let him communicate and get around. I read that they worked really hard to find ways for him to continue to do both as he deteriorated farther in the last 10 years.
And whether he liked it or not, his visibility gave those inventions wings. Especially the one that let him talk.
We had a pretty good snow storm last night and today. When I took the dogs for their walk this morning it was Christmas Card Snow - the flakes were as big as half dollars!Nice thing about snow this time of year is that it doesn't last - it's already melted :)
True, Happy, that is the good news. We had our 3rd Nor’Easter in 12 days on Tues. This one left us w another 20” this time. However, the March sun is so much warmer & the snow is visibly melting away!!

Sounds beautiful happy :)
Here's not so much a random thought as a random situation...I work for a legal education institution and occasionally my job obliges me to give bad news to students (I get all the hard cases). So, the other day, a student was so incensed by my letter that didn't give him what he thought he deserved, he complained to the state Attorney General (copying in also the CEO and principal).
That was bad enough, but for some reason he saw fit to cyberstalk me and copied my GR author profile into his complaint - asking why an author had been given authority over his legal work. My favourite line in the complaint was to the effect that I "had only found against his claim because I was so accustomed to dealing with fantasy".
Priceless. There are times when dealing with dickheads that I feel ethically bound to warn people that I am a novelist and they are giving me A grade material.

One of the many positive contributions wasn't it. That he advanced technologies to make his life better and as a result other people with disease or disability can have extra communication and mobility

Good luck with that...
Just had probably the best review I've ever had on GR. I am not linking to it, in the interests of non-direct marketing, but that has really made my day.
A bit off and on GR these last couple weeks. Got that medical thing going on that I mentioned last year.I wouldn't mention it again, but I feel as group founder/head mod, I need to tell the members when I am going to be around less.
My patchy visitations should only go on for another month or so. Then I'll be back around every other day again. :)
Good luck and positive vibes to you, Terri! We will all be here when you’re able to be back full time :)
Thanks Allie! It has always been nice to know that I (and our other members) can come here for a pep talk or a lift. :)
So many lovely souls in this group.

I've got your back on here, hon. Always.
Hope you'll have time and energy to work on your romance novel. (Thought we'd forgotten didn't you!)Get well!
All the best, Terri. Sending you a big hug through cyberspace and wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Haha! Not so sure it is romance anymore. I think I may have saved it. :-)
Submissions sent out to Agents this week, so I can start sitting back and relaxing now.
Congrats on getting that good review, Adrian.

Good luck, Terri. What I read was superb. Any agent who turns it down isn't right in the bloody head.

We're less scared of sharks too, since the crocs ate 'em all.
