Someone near my work has started a Box Book Exchange. You take a book and either bring it back when you've finished or bring along one in exchange.I snaffled a hardback P. D. James novel. :) I'll bring something for the box on Monday.
Just home from Turks-Caicos (beautiful) and leave tomorrow for Valladolid in the Yucatan Peninsula in a medical mission amongst the Mayans!
If anyone wants to have a peek at the book cover image of my new historical novel, here it is on my profile page:https://www.goodreads.com/photo/autho...
Thanks Ace. I love it too! It's the publisher's design, although the title name was my idea. The woman is purported to be the young Xiaozhuang.

for anyone interested, I finally got the pictures of the finished kitchen uploaded to Photobucket.Built in Bookcase for my Cookbook Collection - Mrs Happy did't beleive they would all fit. The bottom shelf in a dog feeding station.
Ruby having a bite to eat - OtistheDog didn't want his picture taken:)

From the South Wall
We also redid the entry railing and put new carpet in the living room
The dogs resting on the new carpet
Nice kitchen happy! Quite a collection of cookbooks too :) Now you and Mrs. happy can put the kitchen to good use!
Outstanding!!! You both have to be so pleased!!! What is the wood in your cabinets? They are gorgeous!!
Love the kitchen Happy! I like the cobalt lights with the warm wood tones and granite. Nice choices!
Ace wrote: "Wow happy what a gorgeous kitchen. Congratulations. Are those yellow roses from your garden?"
Although we have roses in front of the house - those ones are from Sam's Club.
May wrote: "Outstanding!!! You both have to be so pleased!!! What is the wood in your cabinets? They are gorgeous!!"It's actually a manufactured product - I can't remember just what it is right now. We didn't save any money with though, it cost just as much as oak :)
The banisters and railing are oak. The carpet has a 3/4 inch memory foam pad - it is nice to walk on!
While we had everything tore up - we also replaced the front door. I'm glad it is done, now to the garage :)
Congrats on getting those renos finished, happy! It looks great. I love that you catered for the dog too and gave them a new 'kitchen'. :)Renos over now?
We had our new door put in last week. The builder finally showed up again after disappearing for three months, so he put in the front door and got a start on our second bathroom. Just a start though...he still has to come back to finish it...the way he was talking, that could be a month or more away. :(
The interior is done, but now we move on to the garage. We hope to nail down the plans with the contractor in the next couple of weeks.
What is going on in garage? Are you putting in a bathroom or something? Or are you building a new one? I can't remember.
We currently have a 1 car carport. So, with the rest of the inheritance money and with a little from the bank, we are going to put on a double garage and immediately fill it with junk so we can't fit the cars in :) Unfortunately a couple of mature trees have to come out.Actually I hope only one has to come out, the other, a Scotch Pine, needs to come out, because it about 15 degrees off of plum and leaning over the neighbors workshop and if we get a really strong wind could fall on it.

Very impressive, Alice! Perhaps this is a time when one CAN tell a book by it's cover!!

Oh Bobby, you are too kind. Thank you!
Terri isn't the only one with computer problems - I spent the weekend reinstalling the OPSYS on my home computer and restoring all the data and programs :(
Technology is wonderful when it works... terribly trying when it doesn't!!! How did we get so dependent? Sorry, Happy. Hoping all is well today. 😉

I've been hesitant to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7, for fear that the new OPSYS will disable my Chinese writing program like the last time I upgraded from XP to 7. Hope you've got the chore done.

My Telco has lost the plot. Those call centre people are useless and never do the same thing twice. They say "we have fixed that bla bla" then it turns out they don't fix it, so you ring up and we hear something completely different.I swear, it could turn a person insane.
The situation is temporarily working. They have us on the wrong service, but at least we have internet. We're not going to have round 10 with them until my hubby is back. He's away for a couple weeks. He has to ring them and deal with them now as I can't stomach it anymore.
By the way, the author of last month's group read, Feast of Sorrow: A Novel of Ancient Rome has joined in the discussion of her book. So if you read the book, are about to or plan to, swing in ask your questions and give your feedback. This is the discussion thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Does anyone have a hard time remembering the story when you read back to back? And is it normal to read and listen as I do ? Does reading alone or listening alone help with retention???
Any thoughts?
Thanks! Missy
