I am so pumped for the X Files reboot. Can't wait. It airs in US on the 21st I think. Or maybe it was the 25th.
Over here it will air on the 31st.

Huge X-Files fan here, was blown away when I watched the opening episode way back when, one of my alltime fav shows. Bit nervous about it being rebooted though if being honest.

A cold overcast rainy morning here in Honkers. I have spent the last half hour removing 200 books from my TBR. Only 780 left, so at 50 books a year, I should be done in just over 15 and a half years!

On the Eastern Shore of Maryland we had snow all night then it turned to rain. Right now we have slush on the roads and it still spitting rain. But, later this afternoon the temperature is supposed to drop and the snow supposed to start up again. It's going to get really nasty over night with all the ice on the roads and snow falling on top of the ice. I wish it had just been all snow.

Just watched 50 best children's book, it's a list voted by uk readers.

Pretty good list - My mom told me that when I was a toddler, Peter Rabbit was my favorite book. She said I had it memorized and when she read it to me, she could not misplace any words not even an a for a the. If she did I would in no uncertain terms correct her :)

Also I'm disappointed - the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew/Bobbsey Twins books didn't make the cut - again :)

She was/is my idol. Her books are what brought me into reading outside of little kiddie books. I still love her. I have a ton of collectors items and the complete series (including originals!) in my room :)

I'm already against this list and I haven't seen it yet...

Found it! I wasn't wearing my glasses when I read the list the first time. I still stand firm on my Silverstein.

I'm shocked about the Silverstein too. Maybe because it's a British list? Also no Eva Ibbotson. I think if the list allowed more than one book by an author it would read completely differently. i.e The BFG ~which ROCKED!

The Giving Tree is one of my all time favorites. We have long since worn out my childhood copy. My seven year old and I are reading for her reading homework.

I loved/love Nancy Drew. I still have the books my mother started collecting when she was young. We would talk about the books as i read them. These really started my love of reading.

My mom gave me hers too...I can still remember which one it was she first handed me (#36 The Secret of the Golden Pavilion) ...and I initially hated it! lol.

I wasn't crazy about Nancy Drew but a neighbour down the street had the entire Trixie Belden series by Julie Campbell and Kathryn Kenny and I absolutely loved it. For ex. Trixie Belden and the Mystery at Maypenny's.

And Gretchen...Where the Sidewalk Ends and The Light in the Attic are two of my most cherished books from childhood. May - I had to stop myself. Once I started looking through the poems I kept finding more and more that I loved as a kid. If anyone is curious you can put your Google search on images and look up Shel Silverstein Poems. Most of his poems are there, divided by book, with the original illustrations. It was a blast from the past for sure.

Confession time! I've read four of the top five. I've never actually read War and Peace even though I own a massive copy. Of course when people ask me if I have read it, I have no problems saying I haven't. I've also never read anything by Dickens. It was never forced on me as a student.
