Is anyone else having issues with notifications? I'm not getting any.
I'm only getting a few but it has always been that way.
Of course now that I said something, the problem seems to have fixed itself. I have a few minutes to finally sit down and I realize some of the threads I follow have several new posts but I never received any notifications.
Another group I'm in discussed this and my understanding is that there were issues at GR Towers and the choice was made to turn notifications off until fixes could be made. Apparently, the fix was completed evening GMT/UT so they should be working now.

Personally I think my parents missed out on Zada.
Apparently mine would be Hailey. Meh!

You put in Gretchen and came up with those names? Mine are waaaaay too normal by far. I'd be Isabella in 2014. I used my full first name - Kimberly, which was the 6th most popular during the 70's. Unfortunately that leaves me with a bunch of 'normal' names thru the decades. Much more exciting when I used Kimber...which is what I go by.

I get Brisa and Delilah when I use the shortened forms of my full name.
I have no nickname so must use only my name as is: Jane.Name today is Riley, yuck! Whoever came up with that one?

I need to ask. Is anyone else here shy of taking on book Series due to the fact they don't have the time to follow through on one series when they have a huge to read book list encompassing lots of diverse time periods and subjects.
I reckon by looking at many TBRs in this group, and the fact that most historical fictions (at least those written in the past 10 years or so) are series. I think this group wouldn't survive if we didn't start new series all the time. On a slightly more serious note, yes, sometimes the idea is daunting, but then many in this group, at least, are quite fine with an endless TBR mountain.

Darcy, I don't think many people are willing to go back and try older books. I have both newer and older on my lists. Older may be dated but to me a good book is a good book.

Too true about fantasy, and a lot of sci-fi and mysteries are series too. Even many of the romance authors have turned to writing series.

Now that I'm tracking them, I feel I need to "manage my available book reading time", so the series are going by the wayside..
I'm not sure if I've answered your question Laureen, but it feels more like a hobby/project now that just "reading".
I read what strikes my fancy at the time, series or no, same genre or no. Most series I do not read in order; a few SHOULD be read in order and those I try to remember to point out in my reviews.

If I don't like the first book, I'm not going to waste time continuing with the series. Sometimes if I don't like the first book but I feel like the author had potential, I will at least give the second book a chance. I read The Poyson Garden. I didn't like it enough to continue on with the series even though people are continually telling me the series is quite good. Sorry. I have other books calling to me.

I have an odd attitude to series. If it's an older series I prefer to read book 5 or 6. Often the earlier books can be a bit rough and not give a good indication of what an author is capable of.For example, when the Lucas Davenport series by John Sandfordwas recommended to me, I started with the book Naked Prey. I'm glad I did because I loved the book and the characters. When I eventually got hold of book 1, Rules of Prey I hated it as it was much darker and more violent than the later books. If I'd read that one first, I would never have continued with the series.
Kamila sounds like either a Muslim or Hindu name to me. Aleigha sounds like a weird spelling of Aliya. I have a friend whose granddaughter's name is Aliya.

The good news is, you're a thoroughly decent human being. The bad news is, that is a very dangerous thing to be in Westeros. You are loyal, dutiful, and generally ill at ease among the toxic politics of King's Landing. Either buckle down and learn to play the game, or get the hell out into more hospitable environments. The North may be freezing, but it also has notably less backstabbing which, bless your little heart, is not exactly your strong suit.
