Hope things work themselves out for you Terri. Your enthusiasm for the books we read here was one of the things that got me involved in this group, so I can imagine how awful it must be not to have that right now. Wishing you all the best

Take care of yourself Terri. I know it's hard, but just ignore folks who feel it's their job to harass and bother you. They don't know you and are just showing their own unhappiness and crankiness. It has nothing to do with you so please don't take it personally. That will just wear you out. We have your back and will support you. We can take care of ourselves when you need to pull back a little, and will be happy when you can put more of your attention here. Be good to you.

Really kind. Sending you a hug across the seas (and oceans).

We all, the people who love reading, need that moment of escape that books give us.
I see you are in Brisbane, Laureen. A fellow Queenslander! :)
Thanks for the support everybody. All I can reveal, to explain why I can't stand the drama right now of people harassing me or getting up me for no good reason, is that I and hubby are having major issues right now with my inlaws (his parents). MAJOR Issues. It is incredibly draining stuff.
So don't you bunch of ruffians start any drama in here! I may have to start swearing at you in ways only an Australian can. As my cool, calm facade is slipping down a little. :D
(yes, I know, some of you are thinking "what cool, calm facade??")
Just saw my Goodreads Challenge stats. Good grief! I started out the year so well! Two months without reading and now I am bloody 7 books behind already.
Gee. You can't fall down on your reading when you have a goal of only 40 books. :\
Terri wrote: "(yes, I know, some of you are thinking "what cool, calm facade??") ..."I confess, I was thinking this!! ;)

And Australian swearing is known for its sheer inventiveness. :)
We shouldn't or don't need to know any details BUT... I certainly hope this situation will be remedied satisfactorily soon. Fingers crossed for you.

None of my relatives or my children seem to be impressed with my reading preferences. HaHa. I have been looking through the section here on teen historical/fantasy fiction and have ordered a book for my 14yr old granddaughter in the hope of getting the younger generation interested. There is so much to learn about past lives in HF.
I think reading a good book may help you overcome some of the angst you are feeling at this time but it is hard to overcome the stress we feel sometimes - enough to concentrate on a story. I make myself find quiet time to get myself out of my own head.
My door is always open, Laureen. If you ever need some hist fic bolstering from a fellow Queenslander. I get a bit swamped by Victorians and New South Welshmen around here. They are so unruly... ;) not like us slow ol' banana benders.I have our group read book from the other week on my bedside table unfinished. I had been 80 pages in and I really liked it. I feel if I can just pick it up and enjoy it again it may get me over my slump.
That book is Plague Land

I thought of you especially when I wrote it. :D
Can't believe Goodreads changed things so that any authors we have on our friends lists are now classed as us 'following' them.I have heaps of author that I would call GR friends. Some who are actual friends even outside of GR and are only on GR as an author because they wrote some papers for Uni or whatever.
I read the thread on this in the GR Feedback group and it seems as though GR said they would change it back to the way it was before. So we are no longer 'following' people on our friends lists who are also authors.
Only thing is, GR said they'd fix it ages ago and it still isn't fixed.
What a silly change to make in the first place. To make us followers of authors on our friends lists.

Buawahahahahahahahahaha
Margaret,I agree. It does create an us and them divide. As though we aren't allowed to actually have author friends.
To me it defeats the purpose of GoodReads. A place for like minded people to get together and share their love of books and reading. If authors want sycophants they can have them on their websites or Twitter feeds.
Lol Mark. I definitely haven't been hanging around Andy! Too much sun on those northerners, that's the problem. :)))

She might lend it to me!

Downside, I had to move my critters, and the walls need rendering and painting, but all in all - result!

Hear, hear!!
It's not history related but it is reading related. For all of you who are Stateside, Barnes and Nobel is doing a summer reading program for kids (they need one for adults!). Read eight books and you can get a free one! Here's more information:http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/summe...
Because my oldest isn't in enough summer reading programs yet...
Terri, you have been in my thoughts of late because you were missing. Do what you have to do to so that you can come back to us again. However long it takes, we can wait.
Linda wrote: "Terri, you have been in my thoughts of late because you were missing. Do what you have to do to so that you can come back to us again. However long it takes, we can wait."Thanks, Linda. :)
I am back to active right now. There is the possibility however (due to the nature of the dramas hubby and I are having with his parents) that I could drop out again because it all gets too much, but I hope it won't be for too long next time.
happy wrote: "Sorry to hear about your problems - Life's a B**** sometimes. Hang in there and we'll be here when you're ready"Ditto to this Terri!
Happy just put it so elegantly I had to concur lololol :D

I lasted four months and 22 days. I was on the run from Fort Worth, Texas to Springfield, Missouri where my cousins live and heading North to Canada. My fiancé, in Edmonton, AB made it 11 months and 11 days and died in Dallas on his way to me. How sweet!
I got a great piece of jewelry for my birthday from my Dad. I requested a Celtic Thor's hammer necklace. I've wanted one ever since I saw the Viking exhibit put on by the Royal Museum in Victoria and he found me one like this: http://www.amazon.com/Hammer-Celtic-M...
Now I need an Uhtred book to read!!

That's gorgeous, Dawn.

Yeah, somebody's slightly creepy. Did I say slightly? Very creepy - you are very creepy. Congratulations on winning Most Likely to Be Evil, Most Likely to Own a Murder Dungeon, and Most Likely to Make Children Everywhere Wake Up Screaming. You are ambitious, clever and strategic - but honestly, nobody cares about all that when you're chasing them through the woods with a bow and arrow in one hand and a castration knife in the other.*
*No actual psychological correlation guaranteed. Please don't be sad. Unless you DO own a murder dungeon, in which case please seek help ASAP.
