I definitely think its better than a year or so ago but I'm in Michigan and my state was hit the hardest. Babysitting my nephew probably hinders me because I'm not applying as much as I need to. I need to buckle down. But I can't check the want ads every day... its the same jobs day to day, many of which I've already applied it. Also, I'd go crazy.
I have gotten a few calls but they weren't for the jobs I actually applied for! Like, one job that was supposed to be in location A and location B calls me. Which would be fine if location B weren't Detroit. I'm not working in Detroit. Its a completely frustrating process.
Are there even jobs advertised in Detroit anymore? I thought it was a ghost town with no jobs available.
Well apparently there are and they all want me to work there....no thanks!!! I'm not getting out of my car worrying what day I'm going to be mugged, raped, pillaged, murdered or left for dead. No thank you.
No. I don't blame you! None of those are very nice ways to start the day.

So far we have been lucky that my husband started his new job on Monday, and he is finally off the spanners and selling cameras, which he is really good at. I'm excited for him. He is great with customers and loves photography, so if your hobby becomes work it has to help with how much time you spend there.
I was just going to hang in a book store and start putting stuff away and if anyone asked just say I was the new girl!!!

And good luck for you others trying for work, dont give up, be tenacious & if you cant get a job just yet try training programs or courses to keep the mind ticking, all helps.
I'm back on the road in a couple of days for college basketball tournaments. Gone for a couple of weeks and when I get home we're going to sit down and seriously look at me possibly bringing this career to a slow stop! I'll know more after getting back from Panama.

It is challenging to find a job these days. I quit mine and moved back to my parents and just recently found a job close to here but it pays crappy compared to the last one. But its less stressful and I need that to recover.On a brighter note, I have my bow today!! But am still waiting for the arrows (they are getting adjusted to my draw length so it will take a day or two for them to be ready). Sorry about that. Terry Pratchett is by far one of my favorite authors. I discovered him right around the first time I was diagnosed with Stage IV jaw cancer back in 2008. I got myself through treatment by going to Barnes and Noble and straight out buying EVERY SINGLE Discworld book they had and reading them through in order from beginning to end. Since then I've collected everything Discworld and Terry. I have three autographed books and one special edition print of Dodger (#17 out of 200) and eagerly awaited anything new that came into print. He helped me through a very tough time in my life. RIP Sir Terry Pratchett.

I don't get Game of Thrones! Proceed to throw rotten vegetables at me if you wish. Maybe it's because I stay home with two year olds all day but I just don't have the attention span to keep up with the dozen different story lines. I'm not offended by nudity but I don't really need that much of it. Here's my biggest problem (and the one most likely to cause people to throw things at me), at the end of the day, I just think it's boring. I've watched the first five or so episodes of the first season and I just don't get it. Mr. Gretchen seems to enjoy it but sometimes his reasons seem slightly obvious.
Know what you mean Gretchen, as a big fantasy fan it didnt grab my attention either. Read the first 3/4 books enjoyed them, but I have so many other books by other as good or better authors to read.
I'm not interested in the television show in the first place and I read Book I [gave it a 1*] then quit partway through, not far into in Book II. I guess I'm an oddball.

I love the books, but can't stand the show. All the good things about the book aren't in the show, imho. I'm also one of the few who really liked the fourth book.

I love the books but I'm bored by the TV fiction. Maybe it's because my imagination is much better than that... ;)
BUT, I have to say that I approve the actors that play Jaime and Tyrion Lannister. They are perfect in that role.
I'm so over GoT now. I haven't read the books, so I only mean the tv series.I thought it was okay the first couple years, although I never got passionate about it. I was never at that point where I was anxiously awaiting the next week's episode. I could take it or leave it.
But last year's season did nothing for me. Just more of the same crap and I don't even know if I'll watch this new season.

Has anyone ever heard the term 'fotched' before? Well, our TV cable carrier fotched my TCM channel yesterday, meaning I did not willingly allow them to take it. New cable carrier, new channel menu. I wanted to see their fotching warrant. Apple has something new that could stand cable carriers on their ears.

Not on GR much right now as the wifi is playing up on my laptop again. I have zero wifi on it. I have it on my Tablet, but I don't like being on GR on my tablet because involvement here means having to type heaps on the screen keyboard....and that drives me nuts.I've found when my laptop wifi connectivity stops working it just starts working out of the blue. I have to just keep trying it every day until it is back online.....if it still isn't working next week I'll take it to get fixed. Which I don't want to do, as I don't have money in the budget for that right now.

Is there anyway to block a user on Goodreads? I'm guessing that she is trying to spread the word about various historical fiction books by delivering a synopsis in Spanish....for almost every single book in the genre. Good on her for promoting reading but I have X amount of discussion spaces on my front home page and X-1 of them are the same user with the same message. It's just a personal preference thing so if anyone has any ideas??
