Get well soon, Gretchen - and what do you mean, there's no snow in Minnesota right now? I've seen Fargo - there's always snow in Minnesota!

We don't have any in the valleys here in Utah, but the mountains..."
We got our White Christmas - It started snowing about 11 last night and is still snowing, about 4 inches (10 CM) on the ground. After the presents and breakfast was over, I've spent the morning looking out the living room window at the snow. I've got to get out and shovel soon.
Once again to everyone who celebrates Christmas - Merry Christmas and to those who don't Happy Holidays
It started snowing this morning. According to Elizabeth, the snow is her favorite present. Guess Santa is going to save his pennies next year and just hope for snow. I hope everyone has a wonderful day no matter what holiday you are celebrating or even if you are just celebrating the fact that it's Thursday.
Is anyone in Hawaii? I'm rather interested in the blizzard they are suppose to be experiencing on the islands.
Gretchen wrote: "Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! This year, Elizabeth decided she needed to share her stomach bug with mom so it looks like Christmas is going to be low key around here."Very sorry to hear that you are sick. GWS! And I do hope it snows in Minnesota just for your children!
No snow here on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Just temps in the 50's and 60's (F). We're usually down in the 30's and 40's. Lots of rain and wind; made me wish we had our usual temps so it would snow instead. I grew up in Canada and really miss the snow.
Merry Late Christmas, Merry Late Boxing Day and Merry Regular 'Oh my gosh it's over for another year I can sit down and relax now for the first time in.....what do you mean that toy doesn't come with batteries? For Crikey's sake I'm not going to Wal-Mart on the weekend after Christmas..you're just going to have to deal with no batteries until Mon.....wow that was an absolutely eardrum piercing scream. I'll be back in five....hours or so. Save some dinner for me. Batteries. Bah Humbug!" Day! Hope everyone had a wonderful week regardless of what, who or where they celebrate. :D
We had an additional 3 inches of snow today and the roads are slicker than slick - or were when I came into work 8 hrs ago

Nah mate, jus a change in wind direction & it blows in across the bay, more the wind chill for us. Heading inland morrow so likely a lot colder as I go over the hill & into the Norffff......
Bet you got a smattering?
not a thing mate, it seemed to stopped south of us here. my sister in south yorkshire has good 6inches of snow.
When I got home from work this morning there was 10 in (25 cm) of snow on the drive way to shovel - It can really, really stop snowing now :)It supposed to snow another 3 or 4 inches this afternoon. :(
In Dallas Texas. 33 degrees here! Have to be at work at 5:30am so no celebration tonight. Happy New Year to all.
Happy New Year! I'm already feeling accomplished. That's surprising considering a fairly large quantity of sangria seems to have gone missing from my house. I have some Hoppin' John in the slow cooker and I set a new book goal. This year I'm thinking I can get some more reading in. I will be spending a lot of time in waiting rooms with my twinkers.
Happy New Year! My mother, sons and grandchildren will celebrate Christmas with Tom and me tonight. I have to get up and start my duties. We are having filet mignon instead of Turkey. I get so nervous when I host the party. My heart beats too fast, etc. Did you know that it is possible to ruin a batch of rice crispy bars?COS: What I am really writing about is THE WORLD WE CANNOT SEE. (Sorry, no b/a). I bought it on Amazon yesterday. All of you may like it (it is THE book in some reading circles), but after 39 pages I cannot find the rhythm of the read. It reads like a Rushdie and Mantel combo. If the read gets better, I will let you know. The book had super high reviews, but there were several one star ratings. I should have paid attention to the one stars. COS: Football. TCU did real well. Bobby will enjoy his vacation because I think TCU is his team. Correct me if I am wrong. My two teams lost, but I am slowly recovering. Thanks for listening. I feel better already!
Happy new year everyone.I'm happy to say goodbye to 2014. It wasn't such a good one. I'm convinced 2015 will be much, much better! Feeling reinvigorated by the calender reset. :)
Has everyone set their reading challenge goals already? I set mine to 40. That really is a goal for me this year. I am used to reading a lot more than that, but in 2014 I failed my goal and had to set it back to 30 books. A tough year, not much reading done.
So 2015 I am going to really try to keep up with my reading. I have to, or I'll never get all the books read that I want to read.
You can count your school textbooks if they are on GR. They are still a book. I have seen others include their school books.
Decided to change the start date of the book I started late December 2014, to January 2015. So it goes on this years challenge.
Terri wrote: "Decided to change the start date of the book I started late December 2014, to January 2015. So it goes on this years challenge."From the one I just finished, even if I started it in 2014, since I FINISHED it in 2015 and filled out the date Jan. 1, 2015, it was counted towards 2015.
I went bold and set a goal of a 100 books. I'm currently reading four so if I finish those any time soon, I should have a decent start.
Lisa wrote: "I'm always too chicken to set a goal in case I completely fail!"You just do what I do and keeping editing it and dropping the goal figure throughout the year.Technically, you can't fail.....unless you're talking from a personal achievement stand point, and then constantly changing the goal posts might make it a complete fail i guess. Lol :D
Heads up peeps. I have changed the past Group Read catch up to January AND February. That means no Poll until Feb and no new Group Reads until March. It will now be two months of catching up with past reads if you want to join in.
Belated Happy New Year to everyone in the group - now I've recovered from family visits and an overdose of Glenmorangie!Target fiction reads for this year - 48 (4 per month). Can I fit those in around non-fiction and research? It could be quite a challenge, but at least it looks as if I might have a number of train journeys to make to Manchester or Merseyside, and those trains are too damn crowded to do anything other than read.
50 for me. Although unofficially my actual goal is just to not loose the joy of reading like I did a few years ago. I want to continue to have a happy feeling when I look at the pile.
I don't want the pressures of trying to read a certain number and also of writing a review [to get as many "likes" as possible] to make me feel like reading becomes mandatory with no pleasure in it.

Cool. I have a lot more other group/buddy reads for this month then I realized. My catch up month will be February!
Happy new year to You all from Mexico! where We have a cold front developing (9°C this night).I have not set the number of books to read this 2015 because there's too much happening in my life but I will be glad if I read the same number I did this year: 32.
Anyway, time to catch up on our books as Terri is giving us the chance to do It.
Happy new year Carlos. We could do with a cold front!! She sure is warm in the Southern Hemisphere right now. "Catastrophic" conditions in the south of the country. Which is the new label for serious fire conditions. So a cool breeze would be lovely.
Happy New year, Carlos. Hope you have a nice fire to warm you up...although I don't often think fireplaces when I think Mexico. :)Weather has been very hot and humid here, but on the upside, we've been having a normal wet season so far. Storms off and on through late November and December. Showers this first week of January. The place is so green.
Quite a contrast to the two years of traumatic drought we've had around here recently. Can hardly believe my eyes when I wake up and look out the window in the morning. To see green and not brown is wonderful.
