If you can get hold of a really comprehensive CD set of the soundtracks, then check out the track Losing a Hand from ESB - it's one of my all-time favourites, and it was well and truly disembowelled.
And right now, here on the West Coast of Canada, the weather is 5 degrees colder than usual for this time of year. But it is beautiful and sunny so we're happy! :)

I think 34 degrees is a projected high for this weekend in Minnesota. We had our first snow on Sunday night/ Monday morning. My daughter also had her first snow day of the school year. People all over Minnesota forgot how to drive in winter. In the largest town near me there was something like 30 reported accidents just on Monday. I think I heard there were five people killed in accidents statewide. And it's only November.
That's the temperature I'm at this morning, but no snow...it's too dry. It's too bad really, I could do with a snow day!
The perfect days in the desert are April and November. Temps in the '70's daytime and 50's at night! Love it....now, if I were only HOME!!!
I woke up to snow on the ground this morning - so much for getting the Christmas lights up this week :)
One of the drawbacks of having a white dog is when he takes you for a walk on days like this, you come home with a dark grey dog from the the chest down :)Otisthedog got a bath when we finished our walk, Mrs Happy insisted!
My library has lost four of my returned books in the last week. UGH! I will be on the hook for the price of the books (plus various other fees) if they can't be found. I know they aren't at my house. The drop box ate my books! UGH! MONDAY! UGH!
Damn thats a bggr, I always geta receipt for mine from the machine, got burnt once for a DVD, that was enough :(
I only get a receipt when I check books out. The library is only open three days a week. There's only a simple drop box for weekends. In the past books have gotten stuck in the drop box but four books in a week!?!? And some of them were too big to possibly get stuck. I like the idea of a drop box receipt system but public libraries are already so under funded.
Guess were lucky in that respect, libraries open 6 days a week although not all hours plus they have 3 machines that do the booking in/out rather than humans & you can always get a printed receipt for the dropbox system.I bet if 4 in a week have gone, you wont be alone in that respect as others will have lost books too! Good luck, time to did yer heels in id say.

Very seldom has a book fallen under the car seat. I always put my books I've read on the back seat of the car.
Jane wrote: "If that ever happens to me, I always ask the library to check their shelves. It might not have been checked in and some page put it away in error. Darcy wrote:That happened to me twice at Uni. I suspect if 4 are missing, that's exactly what happened. Having been a librarian in a community college for many years, I realized early on the work-study students we got as pages or to work in Circulation were not terribly conscientious.
Gretchen, it is an ugh! Monday in many ways. About the books, have you asked the twins where they might me. When our twins were about two, they would put on my son's eyeglasses and walk around like drunken sailors. They were so cute, but Not Me hid two or three pairs every week. My son got the laser surgery to save money. Wherever their hiding place was, it remains their secret! Someday their parents will find their stash of remote controls, eyeglasses, car keys, lipsticks, DVDs, shoes (the worst! Getting ready to go somewhere always involved stopping by a dollar store to buy the twins some shoes). The parents still look like deer caught in the headlights of a car!
Linda-The twins are very good about putting their library books in our done pile and I know I put the book in the drop box so the twinkers are off the hook.Jane- Unfortunately the only librarian who will be willing to help me check the shelves and the drop box is on vacation this week. :( Once upon a time, I was a college work study student in a library. I didn't actually deal with the shelving of books. I worked in donations. I had the fantastic job of digging through boxes of books that had been sitting in attics, basements, or garages for years. I love the smell of old books but there is a difference between an old book and an old book covered in mildew. Gross.
That was part of my job--donations. We librarians never gave it to the kids to look through. I'd give a run-through; anything 10 year or older was an automatic toss. Anything I'd think worthwhile I'd give to librarians in charge of subject areas. Then--I'd get whatever they wanted to keep, to catalog. Oh, we'd get our load of crap, that's for sure!
Our job was just to clean out the boxes. Books that were in decent shape went to the librarians and she got to decide which ones to keep. Then we (the students) got the books back and had to catalog them. Yay for the Dewy Decimal system!
Older books didn't have ISBN's. Only time I messed w/ both at one time was when the SUNY system forced everyone in the system, as we were, to adopt LC for a union catalogue. There was a changeover period...ISBN's are the most accurate, though.
The library found my books!!! Unfortunately this comes on the heels of the news that my best friend will be going on a military tour in Africa at the beginning of the year to support the people working against Ebola. Monday still sucks.
Sunday was worse. A kind soul decided to break my car window's, maybe for the few coins I kept around for car parks. God bless him/her.

Yay! They found them :)My old library had this high tech drop box. You could only put one book in at a time tho. The box would lock and a red light would show meaning it was being processed. When it turned green, it unlocked and you repeated the process. Sucks for someone like me who takes out 40 books at a time!! It must have cost a pretty penny... which is unfortunate. All that technology and you can one put in one bloody book at a time. I'd much rather go in and have someone check them back into the system. Stupid machine takes away a job someone could have :(
That's terrible Simona!! I don't keep ANYTHING out... too many desperate people nowadays. Sad.

That's what I keep repeating myself. A less kind part of me keeps repeating bad words.
Gretchen, Good to hear about the books. Sounds like your children are being brought up to be responsible people. The country owes a debt of more than just graditude to our military. Tell your friend to be safe and God bless.Simona, sorry to hear about destruction of personal property. Someone broke into my car once. I felt so personally violated. They stepped into my life uninvited. Horrible feeling!
The library filing system. Were I writing a thesis today, I would fail. With the Dewey system, I could navigate. I can erase better than I can delete. This etablet chooses my mistakes. Not a good day for me and things electronic in nature.
Had a tiny bit of snow in the South this morning. It snows in November so rarely here that the grocery stores had a run on milk and bread today.
I'm back. WiFi crises averted for now. Still not great. Was going to send the laptop to the 'doctor' to get a check up this week, but then last night the wifi started working in it again.
I'm offline for a few days and what happens?? Derek returns to GR. The real Derek, not the fake sister, Molly.I never heard from him myself, but I hear some people on Goodreads got a friend request from Derek to say he was sorry about faking his death.
I note that as of this morning, only a few hours before I finally got back on GR, Derek deleted his profile on Gr again..
I promise...he is not me...;D
The fact that I went away and he came back and then I came back and he went away, is purely a coincidence. lol!
Been taking the creative writing course on future learn this month ( having finished the one on Hadrian's Wall) and am enjoying it a lot, despite the fact that it is a little harder to get feedback than with the others where all you did was take a test. It has surprisingly improved the way I look at the writing style of the authors I am reading. I look at thhe characters and the plot lines with a much greater appreciation of the way the author draws you into the story.
LOL. I know he's not you, Terri.Interesting that he didn't have the balls to send me a friend's request.
Sounds interesting Carol. As you know, that was one course I was thinking of doing, but worried about plagiarism with the public submission part.
Margaret wrote: "LOL. I know he's not you, Terri.Interesting that he didn't have the balls to send me a friend's request."
Me neither. he knows he burned a bridge with me. I could have been a friend forever to him, but then he went and took advantage of my caring nature and faked his death.
There's no coming back from that. Its unforgiveable.

*nods* Burned his bridge with me as well.

These are my sentiments EXACTLY, Terri. I really, really liked Derek*--the Derek I thought I knew, that is. As a rule, I don't much care for people who fake a terminal illness and then their deaths. ~.~
*when he wasn't all "woe-is-me" playing the pity card.
By the way, I have screenshots of Derek's most recent deleted profile in its entirety, if anyone would like to see them. Just shoot me a PM.
Terri wrote: "Sounds interesting Carol. I am amazed at the range of people taking the course. Some are really good and some are bordering on illiterate.
The week I announced in this group that Molly was Derek, there was a little 5 year old girl in a pink dress smiling and happy on the front page of my local paper. She had just lost her fight with brain cancer. Whenever I think of Derek's faking brain cancer I see that little girl's image and it makes me sick. I can't stand that here was a little girl with this horrible disease who lost her fight, and there was a grown man faking the disease to get attention.Makes me angry.

I guess they have the record of you writing it first so can prove your case if you were to claim someone plagiarised you. Only thing is, you have to discover they have plagiarised you.
Unfortunately the person may never know they have been plagiarised.
Don't post your best stuff, Carol! :D

For us Scots, it feels like business as usual. We keep inheriting your cast-off hurricanes, which thankfully arrive on our shores defanged and declawed. In other words, it's a wee bit wet out there - though they never cease to tell us that it's much warmer than the average for the time of year.
