Terri wrote: "Had a look online, are Mountain Bells an Allium?..."I believe you have both right, although I'd have to look in the catalog to be certain. Both are supposed to be able to handle dry soil. I have one section of bank that is below some trees & very dry, so I'm hoping these will help cover it.
I'm also planting gaillardia,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaillardia
AKA blanket flowers (I have Indian blanket. The yellow ones haven't done well here.) & Jupiter's Beard.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centran...
I haven't tried the latter yet, but got a few thousand seeds (far less than it seems like) to try. I planted some this fall, but will plant most in the spring. They're supposed to be tough & easy, just like the gaillardia. Both have been naturalized in this area, although I haven't seen JB right near us.
We're up on a limestone shelf from the rest of the world & it makes a big difference with some vegetation. The Kentucky Coffee tree doesn't grow in our area but does fine just 10 miles west. Pines don't do well, but are abundant 20 miles away, even down in Frankfort, which is 10 miles away, but 450 feet below us. I'm a little concerned about the JB making, but we'll see.

http://home.bt.com/news/uknews/cat-he...Pure coincidence about the cat but a wonderful feelgood story for you all! "Sit Cat" :*)
Andy wrote: "Great story init, can you see the cats face too in the bottom painting? jus incredible."I noticed that too Andy. The bottom picture is a picture of Thula in front of a picture of Thula :D
Yeah ok! Nice story Andy. But I still prefer dogs, haha. I'm actually allergic to cats! And I think dogs are just damn funny. :)
I am a total cat fan. My Siamese is crosseyed and adorable. Acts like any dog in that he follows me everywhere, and is very affectionate, but I think he loves hubby even more. Sleeps on his side of the bed only, even tho he is neutered.
Carol wrote: "I am a total cat fan. My Siamese is crosseyed and adorable. Acts like any dog in that he follows me everywhere, and is very affectionate, but I think he loves hubby even more. Simona wrote: "Carol wrote: "I am a total cat fan. My Siamese is crosseyed and adorable. So are Burmese. I had a part Burmese cat many years ago. If she was left alone all day you had a permanent shadow when you did get home. Couldn't even shut the loo door without massive feline complaining occurring.
Dawn wrote: "Huh, I have a stray that acts like that....maybe she has some Burmese. Do they talk a lot too??"Oh yes. As much and as loudly as Siamese do.
I find it highly amusing to carry on a conversation with the cat. It always answers when I ask it a question... :)
I suffered an epic mom fail today. My child got left at school. She's home now and no worse for it but I still feel pretty bad.
My cat takes walks on a leash with a small body halter. He is usually outside in the screened in pool area where he can overlook all activity but does love his walks. My daughter takes her Persians for walks in a specially designed kitty stroller

Thanks. It wasn't compeltely my fault. The kids got let out of school early (there was a big chemical spill where they were redoing wooden floors) and none of the parents were notified of the early release until after the kids were all on the bus. I had sent a note with Elizabeth saying I would pick her up so her teacher assumed I was still going to pick her up. The teacher didn't put her on the bus. Grandma had to pick her up from school. She got to hang out with Grandma at work until I could get her. The school got a few rather nasty phone calls from me.
I love puppies but I'm definitely a cat person. We have two. Jayden (male) is 'mine' while Jasper (female) is Daddy's little girl. Sometimes I just sit and watch them interact with each other and with the objects around them. Much like kids I should have skipped all the fancy Pet Smart toys considering Jayden's favorite thing in the world is a stick wrapped with paper tape. He loves to play fetch with it. Jasper is the same. Her favorites are the plastic eggs that we give the boys on Easter, the pull tabs on milk cartons and a plastic fork that she carries around like a kitten.
Gretchen wrote: "I suffered an epic mom fail today. My child got left at school. She's home now and no worse for it but I still feel pretty bad."Oh, you poor Mum. :( This must be a bad feeling for a Mum. The same thing happened with my nephew and his parents last year. They felt so bad.
ON cats..I can't say how I feel about cats. The last time I said why I don't like cats a regular member of the group took it personally and left! Some people really DO NOT like to hear anything negative about cats, apparently. :]
I am a dog person. And I don't care what negatives people say about dogs, so don't worry about offending me. :D
I love dogs too but mostly the larger breeds I just think that unless you have a place where they can run around being dog like it is unfair to them. So it is cat for me
I have a small dog and a big dog. I loves them in all sizes. I have room here for them to run and play. I'd only have a small dog if space was a problem. For sure.
I wrote a long-ish post and my tablet went bananas, so the short versions are had all sorts of critters, would define myself as a dog person. Siamese cats are not my friends. They're cousins, Himalayans I'm fine with, had two. They chased balls like a dog.
Have great affinity for Siamese ever since I was kid and saw lady and the tramp. Live troublemakers. Had a great affection for Ursula in the little mermaid movie as well the eels too
GR and their Facebook love. It annoys me. Now I have to stare at a Facebook promotion every time I check Updates on my profile. It is at the top of the Updates. *rolls eyes*
On CatsI'm mildly alergic to them, so we don't have any. Also, my mother was deathly alergic to them, so I never had the chance to get used to them.
I guess I'm a certified dog person :)
Yep it's dogs for me, and i prefer the larger breeds. And as anyone on my facebook site can testify, generally boxers!! Today we have French bulldog at work, he sleeps under my table. He followed me to the toilet, and I could hear him scratching on the door!! I had to sit him down and explain we just aren't that close yet, you are cute and all, with awesome ears but we ain't sharing the toilet!! I will post a pic of him.

Have you already got your GR profile linked to FB? As in, do you sign in with FB?
I don't, if that makes a difference. I go to my GR Home page and click on Updates. At the top of Updates in big bold black letters I have 'Find out what your friends are reading' and the the big blue FB sign.
I click dismiss and it goes away. Only prob with that is that I clear my cookies everytime I close my browser. Which means the features I dismiss are there again when I come back.

Nope. I haven't got GR linked to ANYTHING. I sign in directly.
It doesn't show up for me either and I also sign in directly. Though maybe my ad blocker is catching it...
4 dogs....2 cats. Cats are new to the homestead. Humane Society here has a "working cats" program. They bring you 2 unwanted cats (complete with temporary large wire crates) and they stay in the kennels for about 2 weeks to acclimate and become possessive of their space. Then they are released. They stay outdoors and are fantastic hunters for vermin etc.

That IS weird Terri. I haven't received anything like that. Maybe its just for you Aussie troublemakers!!
Mark wrote: "Never heard of that idea Bobby before."Had never heard of it before either, Mark. The alternative is to euthanize due to the overpopulation. Very creative...and it works. They are truly "working cats".

Take it they have been fixed?

Mayhap one of those thing that is tested using GR feedback group members?

You bet!! Don't need a herd of Tom's hanging around.
Yeah, I too am thinking that it is something just for GR Feedback members. Or Bobby is right and it is a special feature for Aussie troublemakers. :)

That is the reason I do not like cats. They decimate native wildlife populations.
