But a fabulous Leonidas :)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I'm dog sitting for five days these little rugrat, ankle biter dogs and they do nothing but bark their heads off at anything that moves or makes the least bit of sound. "oh, a leaf blew three miles away, let's act like lunatics!" no training what's so ever. Ugh. And today of all days, the apartment across from her has been empty but the new neighbors had to move in today. They have about fifty million children running up and down the stairs and then I took the dogs outside and one (who looked almost to be a teenager and therefore should know better) runs off screaming even though the dog was nowhere near her. Like really, they're 10 pounds and I've got them on a leash, geez.
Um, bad. One's a Boston terrier and the other is a poodle mix. They're quite cute... when they're sleeping.
Go running with them in a park. If they aren't used to outdoor activities, they'll be much more manageable when you'll be back at the apartment. Just like kids. :)
I just blew up my daughter's birthday cake in the oven. I have no idea how. I'm not really sure what upsets me more at this point, making another cake or cleaning the oven before making another cake. Ugh.
Have the recipe patented - huge success with kids, provided they are allowed to blow it up. No more boring and passive birthday cakes, thank you very much. ;)
Am in Palo Alto working the Stanford-USC game....finding it hard to spend time on Goodreads. Quick note...really enjoyed
Bobby, I worried that you might be working in the high heat yesterday. Maybe Palo Alto was a better climate. Safe travels.

"Good to know - I'm already waiting for the sequel! Stay chilly :D

I would if I knew where the park was... this apartment is about an hour from my house and I've never been around here before. We went walking around the apartment complex a few times before the heat became oppressive. Then one threw up in bed. While she snuggled under the covers. Had to do laundry at 3:00 a.m :( But yay! I get to go home today!
Gretchen - Cleaning the oven is definitely worse!!
How's everybodies weekend going? Over here, it is Monday. Weekend done and dusted. Was a good one though. Spent Saturday shopping around for a new camera.
Sunday was father's day here, so morning dedicated to getting some shots on my new camera, then rest of the day we were over at the parents place for Father's Day.
Apologies to all for forgetting to link to the group read polls when i sent out the broadcast. i know some people (a large portion of our member base) won't know how to find their own way to the polls. So if you don't know how to get there, here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5...
I will send another broadcast out with the link..except GR only allows one group broadcast per day and I have to wait a day before I can send a message with the poll link in it.
You sound rested and back to your normal self today--sort of chipper! I am glad you had a good day with your father. My father was with me from my beginning, and I was with him until his end. Fathers are special.
Hey Terri. Had a great weekend as well, College football just began so I got to watch a few games, including the one Bobby was at , as well as finish up a series of books I have been reading and enjoying by CSHarris. I cooked a huge pot of homemade soup yesterday and am gearing up to begin marathon baking of honey/southern comfort/brandy cakes for the Jewish new year which starts at the end of the month, coinciding with the beginning of the Hadrian Wall course, which is another project to anticipate with optimism. Still working on some writing of my own, so I am finding retirement is busier than work, and far more fun. Have fun with the new camera. I am sure you have some great vistas around you to snap.

Second that! Sounds nummy :)
Sure. Tell me how to get it to you and I will happily share it. It has been in my family for a very long time.
I would like that recipe too!I suppose asking you to type it out and send it to me in a private message would be asking too much? :)
Terri wrote: "I suppose asking you to type it out and send it to me in a private message would be asking too much? :)"Me too! Please!! :)
Leave in the morn for a game at BYU Thursday and travel Friday to Texas Tech for a game Saturday....and THEN 5 days off. No idea where I go after that. Uhhh, I might be in the mood for Southern Comfort and Brandy cakes myself by then!
Anyone with iTunes..brace yourselves. They're apparently giving EVERYONE with an iTunes account a copy of the new U2 album free.I damn near had a coronary when one of the songs started playing. Needless to say it has been deleted. My iTunes is only for my very favourite music. U2 will never be that.

Oh yeah, that will be deleted on mine too.
I only log into my iTunes if I absolutely have to. Syncing my iPod with iTunes tends to screw with the order of my podcasts! I need order!
Apparently all 782 Million iTunes account holders have been gifted the album. This has the possibility of being the biggest PR screwup of all time. 782 million people pissed that iTunes just dumped stuff into their account without asking permission.
I suppose it's better than having things removed from your account without permission, like naked pictures.
I agree. But it still doesn't say good things about their security. They ask me several times when I am purchasing a song "are you sure you want to do this?" then dump unwanted crap in my account.
Did I see that there is a new iPhone being released now? That must suck for people to fork out that much money for an iPhone only to have a new one out in such short time
Terri wrote: "Did I see that there is a new iPhone being released now? That must suck for people to fork out that much money for an iPhone only to have a new one out in such short time"Yeah. The album dump is tied into the new phone release, somehow.
For the record, I am not with iTunes, but I would dump the U2 album too.For me they haven't done a decent album since Rattle and Hum.

I've never liked U2. They just weren't my cup of tea.
No love for The Joshua Tree? Yes, it got overplayed, worn out, maybe was TOO popular for some folks, but that's a great album in my mind. One of my all time favorites. Now, feel free to pour your scorn on me. I love that record, regardless of how popular it was. Just sayin....bring it on music snobs! ;)
Derek wrote: "No love for The Joshua Tree? Yes, it got overplayed, worn out, maybe was TOO popular for some folks, but that's a great album in my mind. One of my all time favorites. I tend more towards liking a particular song or piece of music rather than an artist.
Who's One Direction? Never heard of that.
Well, like the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Bieber....I try to erase that stuff out of my mind. They never happened! Those were just bad hallucinations.
Oh yeah...New Kids On The Block. That never happened either. Just a very bad dream. ;)

I was okay with U2 until The Joshua Tree. For me their style changed there and didn't work for me. Nothing really ever has since. I didn't find them on my iTunes, so perhaps Apple removed the titles again?
I'm with you Derek. Joshua Tree and Rattle aNd Hum are my favourites. After that you couldn't payme to listen to them. I'm not fond of Bonos politicising, to be honest. But those two albums: awesome! :)
Only the 1 U2 vinyl (7" - Fire) in my collection & that was commercial enough - dont do big supergroups does me, very indy & 2minute jig or thrash - Pogues anyday, best live concerts ever

Aww the Backstreet Boys! I went to see "Let's be cops" over the weekend and the thirty year old (guy) character was blasting them on his radio. I started dancing & singing in my seat. Which apparently people do not like when you're at the movies... who knew?
