Lol, Uhtred lying on a fur, stroking someone's face!!! Not an image in my head, haha. I think I'll pass on that sort of romance, Terri.

Oh, that happens periodically with me.
Barnes and Noble tells me it's Book Lover's Day! Too bad it happens to fall on the same day as Twine Ball Day. This means instead of sitting at home reading I am going to back in my home town with a big mug of beer. Maybe I will read tomorrow.
Not sure where to post this "cheap" cool book but Jeff Shaara's http://www.amazon.com/Last-Man-Novel-...is only $1.99 today. That's rare for an author of this standing.

Not only that - it's a pretty good read :)
Thnx Bobby

I picked it up right away. Glad you liked it. I've enjoyed his Civil War stories.

Oh, I've had plenty of Uhtred romances in my head. Those are great! And I've always envisioned a sword fight as romantic foreplay for Uhtred.
Makes me wonder if there is any Uhtred fanfiction out there. Well, I'm off to search the internet...

Oh most definitely!
Sitting having a cuppa in inner Sydney. Watching this man through the window reading what appears to be a brand new hardback. These are his reactions:He lifts his head, with the 1000 yard stare, nodding his head in agreement; then lifts his head a look of confoundment; stares off again at middle distance with a look of wonder!!
It made me wonder at the power of books, it was great to watch!
And then to my horror, he whips out the green flouro highlighter and starts highlighting said book!!!!
My reaction " head in hands", lol.
Arrrgghhhhhhhh.Sacriledge!!!
Makes me want to grab the book and take it away from him. You're not allowed custody of books if you can't treat them with respect.
Highlighting in a leisure book is a huge no no but I highlighted the life out of my college textbooks.
To update, I did find fanfiction for various BC series including Saxon Stories (Uhtred) and Sharpe. Its not much of a fandom but there are about a 100 on so on various sites. A few Lawford/Sharpe fics out there.

Did you try AO3? I swear they have every fan fiction known to man on there.

Yeah I did.
But there is more on fanfiction.net and a few LJ communities.
I have accounts with my own fanfic in all those places. :P Although I haven't written anything new in years.
I have a fanfiction net account. For my Sherlock fan fiction. But I have got some fantastic fan fiction epics off AO3 for my Kindle.

Mine is mostly Torchwood and some Doctor Who and Firefly. And yeah, some fanfiction out there is amazing.

Some of it is also deeply disturbing. :p

Yes it is. If anyone could possibly have thought of it, they wrote it down and posted their fanfiction. I had no idea what mpreg was until I started reading fanfiction (and it squicks me out like nothing else).

Oh yeah. And that really weird Alpha/Omega mpreg stuff is even worse. And yeah, it's pretty squicky.
Some of the Sherlock stuff reaches into the realms of complete insanity. I have seen Cthulu/Sherlock crossovers. And Fawnlock. Oh dear God... Sherlock as a satyr! *shudders*

Oh yeah, thankfully it wasn't a thing in Torchwood as much as I see in other fandoms.
And think about Torchwood... alien hunting organization... lots of creative alien sex possibilities. It got weird.
But then there are stories like one of my favorites, A Matter of Time, that is just so amazing that makes sifting through all that worth it.

There have been several Sherlock/Torchwood crossovers I've come across. My favourite has Jack as John Watson's father. :D

That sounds like it could be interesting. I've read a couple crossovers with Sherlock but I don't think in any Jack was his father. Send me link, will ya? That sounds like I'd be hilarious.

I'm trying to find it. I thought I'd bookmarked it. I hadn't. :p
As soon as I find it, I'll send you the link in a private message. :)

Thanks! I don't think I've read fanfic for the last year, I'd be nice to get something new. Torchwood doesn't have many writers left in the fandom, sadly, because RTD said a big fuck you to fans by destroying the show (he said he wanted viewers, not fans). There is only so much that can be done with 3 seasons (most don't consider Miracle Day season 4 or much of Torchwood anymore, especially since it messed with established canon as well).
It may take a while. I've found 246 Sherlock/Torchwood fics. It's my duty to read every single one. :)
Margaret wrote: "It may take a while. I've found 246 Sherlock/Torchwood fics. But I think I read most Torchwood fics out there, at least the ones over 10K words.
Don't worry, it'll be like a surprise Christmas gift once it appears in my PM box.

I might find something interesting and exciting. :)
Mark wrote: "Thank you ladies. I have never heard of ao3 before. So I have asked for an invite."It took them months to get back to me, but you don't need an account to read (just post) and there is lots of fanfics to get through.

Wow...and suicide as well. Unbelievable. Saw him along with Richard Pryor at the Comedy Club in L.A. back in the late '70's. He was brand new on the scene and a wonderful fresh face with original comedy.
Another tragic victim of the mental health demon. It saddens me to think he was one of millions people who wake up in the morning thinking there are no options. He was just in Minnesota seeking treatment at one of the country's finest facilities. He stopped in at a Dairy Queen my friend manages. She said he was a nice guy and very down to Earth.
PATCH ADAMS was my favorite! In off-screen interviews he made me nervous because he was never calm. He was not a classically handsome man, but that never mattered.
No, he was interesting looking; you couldn't forget that face. Apparently, behind his façade, he was an unhappy man.
maybe it's the old soldier in me, but my favorite Robin Williams movie is Good Morning Viet Nam, esp. one of the final scenes where he talking a bunch of grunts in the back of a duece and half as they are on there way to an op.
One of my all time favorites is The Birdcage. I think that's the cool thing about Robin Williams, everyone has a favorite because there are so many great ones to choose from and everyone can find something to love.

I confess to reading romances. I do think for the most part it's because I can turn my brain off when I do. I have..."
I think one of my problems with romance, is I like to be in charge of my own fantasy. If I like a character ie Uhtred, I like to be the boss of my own fantasy world with those kinds of characters. I don't like other people's idea of what is fantasy or romance being dictated to me.
If I put Uhtred in a romantic fantasy world, I would only ever want it in my head, not on the page, and it would probably involve riding together, swyving together and getting drunk together. Not laying amoung the furs on a cold Sunday morning stroking each others faces. ;D
