And in the czech republic you don't even have to keep ordering, they automatically bring you a fresh one unless you specifically say not to.....:D :D

In SoFla we are boring, except that us non-Spanish speakers will swear in Spanish randomly. Don't know how many times I've yelled out pandejo at other drivers (we have shit drivers here too).
jesus...we opened a Pandora's vase here!AND YES ANDY, I UNDERSTAND YOU NOW! even if usually the first time I read yr posts I get quite crosseyed! but I persist! :D
...and as a designer, I've an advantage: I can always draw a beer and a sandwich to make myself understood! :P

:D Looks like we can all pretty much globetrot now without ever getting thirsty...... all we need to know now is "Bacon Butty" (with HP sauce of course)
I have a couple of friends in Texas, they reckon pretty much all soft drink/soda/pop is simply called coke. Now THAT is a recipe for confusion! :p
I remember that from Texas. I got asked if I wanted a coke and then asked what kind?? Totally threw me for a loop once I realized they meant more than regular or diet!
When I was in Scotland, one hostel offered a packed lunch with a juice. They asked me what kind of juice I wanted and answered that apple or orange would be fine. She blinked a few times and then said 'oh, juice here is what they call a fizzy drink in Glasgow'. So, I said Coke or Irn Bru would do. hah!

I've always been raised to understand that pretty much anything you put in what is traditionally called a "casserole dish" is a hotdish. Growing up hotdish usually consisted of a form of meat, noodles, and some kind of cream soup. Tater tot hotdish is Minnesota's state dish (and if not, it should be).

Irn Bru tastes like rusty nails dissolved in citric acid!It is NOT on my list of drinkables when I visit England next year. Nor is bloody Tizer.

I have.... :p Someone needs to teach the Scots how to make beer. Or maybe they should just stick to making whisky.
I think we should just convince them to leave the beer to the Irish and Belgians. Whiskey is too important to have them diverting their attention away from it!! :)
Margaret wrote: "I have a couple of friends in Texas, they reckon pretty much all soft drink/soda/pop is simply called coke. Sceadugenga wrote: "Margaret wrote: "I have a couple of friends in Texas, they reckon pretty much all soft drink/soda/pop is simply called coke. Now THAT is a recipe for confusion! :p"This might be something recent..."
Dr Pepper certainly gives both Irn Bru and Tizer a run for their money.
Though to be fair, I find most soft drinks too damn sweet.
Margaret wrote: "Someone needs to teach the Scots how how to make beer...."In all fairness once you sift through the industrial swill (like Tenants god forbid...)there are some good Scottish beers:
FRAOCH
TRAQUAIR JACOBITE ALE
ORKNEY SKULL SPLITTER (based on the name and label we could even make this the "official" beer of the A&M HF Group :D :D)
just to name a couple.
Dawn wrote: "I think we should just convince them to leave the beer to the Irish and Belgians. To add to Sceadugenga's list, I would also mention Innis & Gunn's ales as Scottish beer worthy of mention. Also, it's true that Tenants lager is on a scale with bud lite, the "80 shilling" they used to do wasn't bad back in the day.

As a Kiwi do you like the Kiwi softdrink L&P? I don't like it much. Tastes like flat Mountain Dew to me.
Sceadugenga wrote:"This might be something recent..."
Dr Pepper. I have never understood that one. I think it is like Vegemite. Only Aussies have a taste for Vegemite.

Yes. I do like L&P...especially since they changed the recipe back so it tastes more like the original. They made it way too sweet in the 1980s-90s.
The original was mineral water from Paeroa, mixed with lemon juice and then lightly aerated. It's full name was Lemon & Paeroa, typical Kiwis shortened it to L&P and that become its name after it was purchased by Coca-Cola.

Most Kiwis do too...except me. I loathe the bloody stuff.

Yay for vegemite. Love it on crumpets, with lots of butter, or really fresh bread. You can be an aussie Andy, why not! Lol. My current fave cider is Rekordilig, the pear one or the winter one you warm up!

Out my door, turn left & again at about 200yrds, then stroll another 100yrds or so then a right then another 200yards - Open door of Chapelhay Tavern, walk up to the bar.... pint of Scrumpy my lover (pro'n My Lubber), job done ;) Fair to say theres a few in my town on tap (its an acquired taste mind) & for sure when driving thro farmland locally you can always see it sold by the roadside, although not as much as you used to & you take yer chances with a flagon or two of "Rotgut"
Watching the Giro today, love the Grand Tours, and it's like watching a game of skittles on the run-in.... treacherous & lookign like another wet tour. recollect last year riders dropping out with hyperthermia after days in the alps riding throu blizzards! Brutal stuff, makes LeTour look like a picnic!

Except Aussies don't live in Earl's Court any more, apparently.
Beer drinking and sport are certainly going to help make you more attractive to citizenship, lol. Though I'd like to think that's a stereotype we are shedding!Andy I have been to a World Superbike Race, here in Australia, where over half a dozen Marshall's were sent to hospital from hypothermia!! Who'd of thought that could happen here. But of course it could only happen at Phillip Island.

Happy not so happy :(
Here's a question for the UK / Commonwealth gang. This morning an image popped into my head of an old TV show I vaguely remember watching as a child when I lived in the UK in the early '70's. It had to do with Saxons and vikings and I believe it was called "The Raven and the Cross" or something like that. There was even a catchy little tune that went "....who will win the battle the raven or the cross." Now is this a hallucination due to a lack of morning caffeine or did this really exist? I haven't had time to Google or look anywhere else yet, so i thought I'd throw it out there.
