This is awesome Terri. I've known people from many of those areas and he does them so well.
Hi Chris,He does such a good job. Especially interesting to hear the two different Welsh accents. I knew that some Welsh had a thicker accent than others, but I never knew who belonged where.

Not bad, he even gets the difference between those of us in the west country with his Dorzet & Debon accent.
Sexual tension is the operative word. It nests well in literature, on the big screen and in tv series.
The whole discussion about romance in literature is making me giggle. My late grandmother was one of those women who bought the latest Harlequin every month. My grandma was a pretty straight laced lady. It used to drive her nuts with my grandpa would attempt any kind of PDA. It just wasn't how good Catholic ladies behaved in her opinion. I come from a family of eclectic readers to say the least. My mother loves to read books by women like Nora Roberts and Catherine Coulter. I have an aunt with a bachelor's degree in Russian literature and a house full of books about American Indians. I have yet another aunt who loves to read ya books. Anyway....my mother and her sisters would give my grandma all kinds of grief for her Harlequin books. My grandma would adamantly argue she read around the "dirty" parts and just enjoyed the stories. I was young enough to believe my grandma when she said this. One day when I was about 13 I decided I need to see what grandma was talking about. She caught me reading one of her Harlequin books and I got in all kinds of trouble. Apparently I wasn't old enough yet to know which parts were only story and which parts were off limits. Parts of the above thread reminded me of this story and I couldn't resist sharing.

Gretchen wrote: "The whole discussion about romance in literature is making me giggle. My late grandmother was one of those women who bought the latest Harlequin every month. You'd think there'd be a lot of chamasols and diabetes stockings being ripped in these womens lives, but instead, the steamy novels are for secret adventurous parts of their mind. Where husbands are not welcome. :)
Terri nailed it! Sometimes the written word is better than the real thing! Sexual tension between Dorset and Devon is over my head. I thought they were neighboring shires whose people spoke with different accents. Quit laughing. In the US, there was sexual tension between Paula and Simon on American Idol, Harm and Mac on Jag, Uhtred and his wife every time their eyes met, especially in public places. Anyone with a different take on the subject, please feel free to jump in.
Paula and Simon??? I thought Simon was just being a letch like usual....don't think I'd call it sexual tension! :)
It's Stanley Cup time here in the U.S. (hockey) and I'm off to Anaheim tomorrow to cover the first round. Kids think I'm going to Disneyland without them. LOL

Remember the Fifty Shades of Grey affair and the much better story of the smut sellers. http://www.westword.com/2014-02-13/ne...
You read what You are comfortable with, as in sex, as in life. Only in High School You are not in control of what You read.
Bobby wrote: "It's Stanley Cup time here in the U.S. (hockey) and I'm off to Anaheim tomorrow to cover the first round. Kids think I'm going to Disneyland without them. LOL"I assume the Canucks bombed this year and didn't make it in the playoffs because I haven't heard a word about it.

Lmao i'd rather be Bristol fan just because it sounds better to me :pAnd yes, i shall hang my head in shame.
But hey, At least now i'm back to some Opeth, so may i be forgiven?
Thank you for the clarification. I could not sleep for thinking about Dorset, Devon, Stanley, Coulter and grandmothers reading romance novels! lolYou wouldn't happen to have a recipe for strawberry
cake, would you. The one I am thinking about uses strawberry cake mix, frozen strawberries, pecans, cream cheese, coconut, etc. That cake will be my contribution to the Easter feast. (I was told in strong terms to bake that cake or stay away from the feast which means I won't get to hunt Easter eggs with the other children!) I wish I could lol about this cake because I do not know how to cook!

Bobby wrote: "It's Stanley Cup time here in the U.S. (hockey) and I'm off to Anaheim tomorrow to cover the first round. Kids think I'm going to Disneyland without them. LOL"Yay!!! Was all ready for Wednesday night - two of my teams were playing, favorite snacks bought in preparation, sent out a friendly text message warning people to leave me alone on pain of being hunted down and killed should they bother me during game time.... and then got the 24 hour flu late Tuesday night. Bummer. Ended up missing most of the games. Couldn't even record them on account of getting rid of my dvr two weeks previously. To add insult to injury, one team lost in OT on home ice. Boooooooooooo.
True, very true!! I've already informed my new office mates that I don't want to hear anything about hockey!!

I was thinking you'd be a Glaws fan, I used to root for Gloucester when Marco Bortolami was captain.
Dawn wrote: "True, very true!! We may have to break up :(

Afraid Strawberry cake isn't a common cake cooked in my country. Don't know why. WE love strawberries and cakes.
Your recipe sounds delicious!

Starting my Therion music list in this moment. Not much a fan of Opeth (sorry).
I love sexual tension Terri. It is great in books. Not much of a fan of kisses and long scenes of sex but sexual tension keeps me on my throes.
Terri wrote: "I'm a rugby fan too. Australian teams though, not Britain and Northern Island teams."Sorry, no Rugby in Mexico, but the best of the NBA is coming.
I don't mind it either. I like sexual tension in books as long as it doesn't become the plot. Then sometimes, depending on the book, I don't like sexual tension in the book because I like to have the sexual tension between me the reader and the main character.
tee hee Uhtred *swoon*
:D

Not Pagan Lord Uhtred. Although, I think he still has 'it' in Pagan Lord.
Basketball Hawwwwwwk Spit! And I got a lot of that to spread around at the mo' :) Jus cant stand it, dont see the attraction at all!.Aussie teams are doing real well this year Terri in the S15, it seems to be a factor in every post Lions season that the receiving nation sides do well, I dont know why or where ive heard or read that...? some sort of galvanising effect i guess.
Glaws! Never in a million years, they be Norffffern monkies as far as we're concerned :) most of the local populous are Bath supporters with a few of us heading down xeceter as they say.
I haven't been too aware of how we've been doing. I was so embarrased by our appalling form last year that Icouldn't watch us play for a while.I'll get over it soon enough I suppose.
All about the 4 year cycles Terri - Rugby World Cup is next year in Ingerland & the wallabies tend to peak around that time, we currently have one of yer "bad Boys" james o'connor playing at Irish - a class above really & can see him being a star next world cup after his sabbatical.
O'Connor is a punk. Talented, but you never know which James O'Connor will turn up to play. As he gets older he'll likely improve his attitude. As it stands now though, his attitude is a liability and only good coaching and captaincy will anchor his position in our side.most Aussies would love the chance to tell him to "pull his bloody head in and get over himself"
I so wish that I knew Rugby so I could chat about that sport with you guys, but it gets very little mention & no airtime where I'm at. I have a ton of respect for those guys, though. It's a rugged, hard nosed sport for sure.
Andy wrote: "most of the local populous are Bath supporters..."Shouldn't that be "Bawth"? :-)
My allegiences are Ulster for rugby, Bruins for hockey.
Not sure about curling.
