Well, I use the term 'friend' somewhat loosely. We've met socially and have mutual friends. She also used the same marriage commissioner in British Columbia that I used.

Home from Oregon (sort of, now in Georgia at the In-Laws) and off to the Bahamas Tuesday. Taking a week off from football. Should be able to finish a couple of books while gone, including . Trying to keep up but feel like I'm always following Usain Bolt's butt in the read race.

Me neither. They stress me out. I am halfway through the 2012 Seasons game on my Tablet. I just lost interest about 4 months ago and never went back to it.

NaNoWriMo is a really good idea, he said enthusiastically. You commit to writing a chunk every day, regardless of quality. Forget research, forget thinking about it, you just hammer out the story. At the end of just one month you then have about 50k words, which in anyone's money is a first draft. You then (after lying down in a darkened room for a couple of days soaking your wrists in icewater) go back, put the research in, fix the continuity, brighten the characters smarten the dialogue etc etc, but that's just editing. So much easier to edit than to write, no? Commit today!

Or maybe I should use the month to get over the hump in the novel I am writing that has already taken 5 years of my life (or was it longer or shorter than that...I have had writer's block with it for so bloody long that I can't keep track).

I am trying not to think about Christmas shopping. Although I want to. But we have a lot of birthdays in this family from now until xmas. I try not to start thinking about Xmas presents until late November. :)

The point is that it's a limited committment, so it isn't like the usual "I've decided to write a novel, so that's about it for my social life and any sort of mental peace for the next five years". You commit for thirty days. You forget ideas of writing quality, you forget your inner critic, you forget the fact that your gym teacher and your father wrecked your self-esteem and said you'd never amount to anything, and you just sit down and ******* do it. At the end of the thirty days you have a first draft. After that it's downhill.

Is anyone else having problems with the new Goodreads 'add book'/Want to Read button?
When I am on my tablet and I click the drop down shelf list via the new add book buttons, I can't tick shelf buttons. Trying to click shelf boxes only closes the drop down list and the tick doesn't stay.
I am not having this problem on my laptop.

The Google Doodle today is for the 161st anniversary of Moby Dick. I think it looks pretty nice, very art nouveau. :)

It works good on my laptop. I would, however, like to see an 'edit review' feature on the button in all its stages.
Currently, if you hover over the button when a book is marked as 'Reaf' you get the edit review option to pop up.
But if the button is 'Currently Reading' or 'Want to Read' you can't go to 'edit review'. :(


I can however, update my page number on my 'currently reading' books by just hovering the cursor (or holding finger on button). I like that.

I had to go check it out to see what you were talking about. I agree that it would be nice to get the 'edit review' feature for all the options.

I'm not finding the different coloured check marks all that useful and I really despise that green colour but I'm sure I'll get used to that. :)

Oh , and I really like having access to all my shelves without having to go to 'edit review'.

Though I would prefer it if I didn't have to scroll through them and I could search them, even just by first letter. Just like in the 'my books' page.

The green colour is really stirring things up in Goodreads feedback Group. LOL! Lots of knickers in knots over there.

I think I can learn to live with the colour too...I just want to be able to use the damn thing to add books to my shelves. Fingers crossed they can iron out that bug...:/...although I have not got my breath held for that.

Oh, and I can't see any reason why they could not have stuck with to read instead of the new Want to Read.

Seriously nuts, I might have been the only one on my friends list who liked it. They wanted to boycott and everything. The changes to the newsfeed still bugs me but I barely use FB anymore so it bothers me less than it used to.

I don't use it much other than to just make a quick scroll through the updates and to make sure no one messaged me. I never cared about the changes because I spend so little time on it.
