Haydn Morris Great news Derek I'm pleased things are coming together for you. There's a job with your name on it out there. As for the Chunnel I think it's a brilliant way to get to mainland Europe. I've been on it several times and in the time it takes me to get through security, customs, check in at airports I can get from London to Paris. Very relaxing and hassle free.

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments The Pagan Lord by Bernard Cornwell. I have it downloaded and ready to read. I readThe Bookmaker by Chris Fraser this last week. When the protagonist, a Californian who has never left the state, gets off the plane in Memphis, in August, he gets hit by a brutal force that renders him limp---humidity! Bless his heart.

We were coming back from Ft. Bragg one time and sitting on the runway in a C-141 and suddenly a young airman comes out and starts beating on the rear door with a small sledge hammer. We all kind of looked at each other wondering WTH. It turns out that the door wasn't locking, so they couldn't pressurize the plane. After about 5 minutes one of the pilots comes and tells us what is going on and they put us on a different aircraft and we flew home - it was acutally a better flight - we had airline seats vs jump seats

message 7820: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments It's only a national sport Andy when we aren't picking on the septics or kiwis, lol! We don't tend to say much about those Canadians much! Interesting.

message 7821: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Apr 12, 2014 02:31PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I wonder why we don't say much about the Canadians....maybe it is because we haven't had much to do withthem in sport and war. Many of our nicknames for other countries and our attitude towards them stems from war time interaction or sport rivalry.

message 7822: by Andy (last edited Apr 12, 2014 02:37PM) (new)

Andy | 1511 comments There jus septics with a froggy accent aren't they..... play some sort of sport called lacrosse which nobody else is allowed to play......? mind at least they dont call their winner world champions like some baseballing nation does :P

Pins out, nite to all our colonial friends xx

message 7825: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments It is odd Terri. We have had a long standing relationship with them, yet we don't seem to pick on them much, haha. Sorry to our American friends but I think sometimes they do leave themselves open to it, lol.

Terri | 19576 comments I am having a hell of a time with the keyboard on the new samsung tablet.

My tablet has been crashing a lot lately, so I went to the store yesterday and took advantage of their 2 years interest free, no repayments plan, and got a new Samsung Note 10.1" 2014 edition.
I am finding the keyboard much less responsive than my other tablet, especially the space bar. It is driving me nuts!!

message 7828: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments So if you see an excessive amount of spaces missing between my words and some weird typos, this is why. I am learning a new tablet keyboard.
I thought typing sensitivity might fix it, but I can't find anything in settings to change sensitivity. Looks like this is it for sensitivity. My typing is just too fast for it. :-)

I agree, I think calling the Championship in baseball the World Series' is dumb! At least they should call it some kind of Cup or Trophy.

We play lacrosse in the U.S. too. I played it in college in Virginia years ago. I wasn't very good, but it was fun.

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Coming into work tonight, I was watching a lighting storm - wow beautiful.

message 7834: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments Ii love lightning Happy. It's mother natures greatest display of power, I think. Imagine if we could harness the energy in those storms! The Northern Territory here, is renowned for it's lighting storms and I would love to see them some day.

Lazy weekend her Lunabelle. Still settling into new jobs. Watching a really bad western with Elvis. Think it's time for a nana nap, :)).

Allison | 1704 comments LunaBelle wrote: "Hi people!

Great! Watched my nephew all morning and it was so beautiful out, we went for a long walk and then played catch. He's only 15 months so "catch" is really just him carrying the ball while we walk around the backyard :)

Then I went to a CHER concert!! I wore a long, black "Cher" wig and a vintage 60s dress. Groovy!!

Lol! We will not learn Cricket! We will not cease to play American Football! However, we might choose to drink superior imported British lager! That is all I have to say! :)

You used to play cricket. Baseball started as a way to keep fit in the spring before you played cricket in the summer. :D

Nancy Brumback | 85 comments Re a message from the queen, very funny! I agree totally about guns and congress. I don't agree about the 4th of July. I don't care about beer or sports. I know, I'm a real oddball, whereas some of the rest of you think that YOU are the oddball! ;)))

message 7848: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Brumback | 85 comments One other I don't agree about is the President. He's a good president but has been blocked on everything he's tried to do by the effing conservative republicans and the cowardly democrats who vote with them.
