I found out you can get the highlight turned off and I have very quickly turned this new feature off. :)
Dawn wrote: "Thankfully, it's something Terri can turn off and she has!! :)"Oh. You posted roughly the same time as me. :)
I have turned it off. No way in hell I was going to let that stay. How embarrasing.
For GR to design that and roll it out, I don't think they quite understand what moderators usually do in groups. We aren't just swinging in to kick arse. We are regular members too. Joining in conversations. Annoying people with our chatter. :)
Oh yes, your chatter is so annoying! Lol . Come on, you know we love it. I depend on the moderators to keep me out of trouble, give me information, link me when I don't know to do it, etc. You are always 'johnny on the spot.'

Right below the comment boxes are to little checked boxes, one being "email me when people reply" so I've unchecked it but.....its a sneaky little ****** because if you go into a different screen and then come back, its rechecked itself! How do I actually notify GR?
Here: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...They really do want a screenshot not just a description. I had to get their help when I couldn't make GR's work on IE. I mean, their help turned out to be use a different program but thanks to them I'm a big fan of Firefox now!! :)

Amen.
Ah. I love a fresh start.I have been avoiding clearing out my GR Inbox. I knew it had a lot of messages in it dating back about 6 months. It was one of those jobs I avoided because you can only delete 20 messages at once.
Being a rainy day today. I had a spare thirty minutes. I finally tackled it.
2700 SENT messages, 1800 READ messages + an extra 700 in the trash (since you can't delete READ outright, they have to go to trash first a lot of my READ messages were still waiting to be trashed).
Now my inbox has NO read messages, no messages in trash and no sent messages.
new beginnings. Fingers crossed I can make myself stay on top of my inbox from now on. :)
It was rainy here too. Rained all day in the shape of big, chunky snowflakes :) brrrrrrr its cold, I have three sweaters on because I don't want to keep turning up the heat!

And introverts like me.
Alicja wrote: "I just finished The Pale Horseman by Bernard Cornwell and I can't stop crying. That ending!"LOL. I don't remember the ending. Can't remember if any made me sad enough to cry...been so long since I read that one. :)
Allie wrote: "It was rainy here too. Just thinking about three sweaters (or 'jumpers' as we call them in Australia) makes me break out in a sweat rash.
Jane, I am surprised by your calling yourself an introvert. IMHO we chat a lot and sometimes not about books. Well, whatever you are works for me:-)
Portia wrote: "Jane, I am surprised by your calling yourself an introvert. IMHO we chat a lot and sometimes not about books. And yes, I'm one too.

Same here. If you met me in person, you'd probably think I was mute. I feel comfortable visiting with people here, however.

I think the problem is that people confuse being introverted with being shy. Two different things.I'm not shy and don't have problems meeting new people. However, don't stick me in a party with loads of people I don't know, I won't cope.
Introverts tend to sensory overload very quickly.
Extroverts tend to recharge by socialising, whilst introverts tend to recharge by being alone.
Recent studies have suggested that it is a form of brain hard wiring and is most likely genetic.
Maybe I should start using introvert instead of anti-social or loner! So what I'm getting here is that the reason I can't find anyone to talk to in real life is that all the people I like are introverts and only talk online. I think a computer will be absolutely necessary for the rest of my life then!
The changing of your avi to a pink rabbit is the really bizarre part of your dream. If that happens we'll know it's not you !
You really do wonder where your "dream" head gets stuff from, don't you? The other week I had a dream that my only friends were real life emoticons!!? What the hell does that mean! No, don't answer that.Looking forward to the rabbit though!
Haha, well Marina, at least you can trace it back! I'm at a loss. I don't know if it says something about me or my friends, lol......
I'm not an introvert and can usually find something to talk about with anyone. So I guess that makes me the girl at the party that talks all you guys into coming out of your shells!
I too am an introvert and very shy. This conversation reminded me of something Anson Mount (of Hell On Wheels) tweeted. http://themetapicture.com/how-to-inte...

Absolutely! In 'real life' I'm overwhelmed by groups, but one-on-one I'm fine. I understand where you're coming from, Margaret.
Also you, Portia.

Harvey? Was he a giant invisible pooka only you could see? :)

Yes, I like aloneness. I hate parties with tons of people.

I guess that makes me an introverted, shy, antisocial loner, who has social anxiety issues. Geez...I'm totally screwed up!!;)

I had no idea, Derek. And here I thought of you as a thoughtful person with a good sense of humor. Maybe I 'my the one with the problem. :-)

I'm happy you think that of me, Portia:) I've become comfortable in this group, and once I gain a sense of comfort & acceptance, I tend to come out of my shell more often than I otherwise would.

I'm guessing everyone has hear of this book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. It shot to the best-seller list soon after it was published. Seems there are scads of introverts but they just haven't talked about it a lot ;-)
As I've gotten older I've found that I have successfully avoided almost any occasion of festival seating (where I'm on my own to find a place to sit). I don't mind going to a performance of a play or the symphony and being in a crowd as long as I know the outcome -- that I have an assigned seat and won't be run over by someone who has to be first in line for the front row seat. Spouse and I prefer aisle seats for two reasons -- he is long-legged and I like to get in and get out with ease, especially at the intermission when I ALWAYS need the ladies!
