Sydney Does anyone think there should be another book for 13 reasons why? I know Hannah's p.o.v. was in the tapes in this, but i think it would be cool if there was a book in her p.o.v. You know, like what she felt when she noticed the snowball effect, when she was making the tapes. When she took her life. I would love to read that.....

urg this book drove me CRAZY!!!!! she had NO GOOD REASON TO KILL HERSELF! sorry, her personality just bugged me. i mean, her LAST ACT ON EARTH was to make 13 other peoples lives miserable. i would understand it better if she had some other issues, like family stuff maybe, or an eating disorder? if she acted depressed, sounded depressed... i would get it. but she was pretty much everything i dislike about a person:
-self centered
-over dramatic
-proud
-cowardly
you may say, "proud?" but, think about it, if she hadn't been so proud, she would've been able to admit to SOMEONE how much all that stuff hurt her.
and don't all high-schoolers experiance all that to some extent? maybe worse? she was just... annoying.
and she was a coward. she couldn't come and say all of this stuff to their faces, she had to go behind their backs, make these tapes, mail them, and then... she killed herself.
jeez.

Sydney Kaya, I do have to admit, it was annoying and slefish of her to do that behind their backs. But at the same time, everyone does this kind of stuff. And high-schoolers--even middle schoolers-- experience that stuff, but many many people kill themselves because of these things. And maybe sometimes it's not so bad to think about it. "Who really pushed her to the edge?" "What would I do in these situations?" Cuz i can guarentee that a lot of people wouldn't want to deal with that. Even me. I wouldn't kill myself, but I would hate it!!! And she was depressed. But no one would listen to her if she said it to her faces. Isn't that what all high-schoolers do?? Ignore you when you need help? Push you down farther when you need a hand up?? YEP!!! So what she did was, at the time, the right thing for her to do. It was awful and heartbreaking, but she did it... And many others have too. So don't just label people. I'm not saying that you do, just the people that do, do it without thinking. So think.

Sydney *selfish not slefish

Sydney~
I agree, many people do experience it. Looking back that was a bit rude of me, i'm sorry. I do my best not to label people, i guess i just wasn't having the best day and needed something to rant about...
The way it was written was really unique... and she did have some good reasons to be depressed and stuff, but i STILL think that it was a LITTLE much to kill herself. i'm sticking by that.
but i did like the moral and stuff. hannah's character just wan't my favorite.
so i'm so so sorry if i offended you.
and i also liked the ending. the fact that he goes over to... (what's her name?) because she's sorta acting the way that hannah did and he's trying to help her out
if there's another book, that's what it should be about... just saying.
and i think that it was the teacher that pushed her to the edge, even though she could've been way more blunt with him and he could've helped her.
i think she already had her mind made up but she went anyways and that finalized it for her.

Kat Hammock What annoyed me was that she could of gotten better if she had just told her problems to somebody and she had so many opportunities to do so. I think she killed herself when she had a good chance to live and have a boyfriend that wanted to be there for her. It drives me nuts that she could of been alive. She basically threw her life away cause somebody bullied her. ahhh

:) no problem! thanks for understanding!

Sydney Katrina~
I agree. But it was a good book... But at the end I kinda of cried because of anger-sadness-happiness... But I wouldn't give up like that... The sad thing is that now, a lot of people think that's the only way out. But it's not.

Kat Hammock Sydney-
I agree. It was an amazing book. I felt the same way at the end. And it's true a lot of people do think like that. Even I did at one point in my life. I'm so thankful I got through it and had support.

And that, my dear, was the point of the story.

J I think a good sequel for this book is to tell the 13 other point of views from the kids that received the tapes. What is their side of the story? Now, we need a good title!!

Sydney Janfra~
That is a great idea!!! Instead of just Clay's point of view and Hannah's tapes, it never said what anyone else thought of the tapes, and the reasons... Title??? Maybeee... My Reason?? Noo... idk(=

Yeah, it may have been a little much to kill herself and yeah, Hannah could have told the people hurting her that they were hurting her, but if you think about it, would you go up to a person that has started a roumer about you and basically tell them to F off? And, like she said in the books, Hannah didn't really feel comfortable with her peers and didn't know if she could talk to them. I mean, you can call her selfish or whatever all you want but in the end, she was just so... done. Personally, I think that the same kinda thing had happened at her old school and she was hoping for a fresh start and that fresh start was kinda taken away from her pretty soon after school started. If all that had happened to her were to happen to me, I might be driven to suicide as well...
