Did anyone notice that Blackjack was a girl in the Sea of Monsters and a guy for the rest of the series?

I did not. I'll have to re-read the books...
I find it interesting that there was a real horse named Black Jack who was a president's horse... I guess it's a good name for a horse (or pegasus)!
Come on - who doesnt love blackjack - i mean he calls percy boss, loves sugar cubes, and is always there when needed!
Yes, I've noticed that. When I head back to the bookstore next, I'll check some of the recent publications to see if they've fixed it. I mean, the book's been out for, what, five years now? I would think that some one would've caught it and fixed it by now. But I don't know publication stuff and if they can edit that or not....

The book! The sea of monsters when riordan first introduces blackjack as Luke's steed and then the first time you see blackjack in the Titan's curse.
Shameful, just shameful. But also quite hilarious. I love finding continuity and spelling errors in books. I've found some really strange ones before.
I remember when Blackjack was a girl...I was very, very confused for like 2 days wondering why he did thet before I realized it was a mistake.

I reread the second one the other night, and you're right! Blackjack is a girl! That's so weird!!! OMG! Do you think RR noticed?
I don't know. Probably noticed by now though...but i don't think there's anything he can do about it.
I'd feel kinda stupid, but hey, everyone makes at least one big mistake...it's not like it seriously ruins the story. I kinda like Blackjack as a guy and i have a hard time trying to see him as a mare.

Brianna wrote: "Did anyone notice that Blackjack was a girl in the Sea of Monsters and a guy for the rest of the series?"I know that was stupid the name is a boyish name so he should be a boy, that is what I hatd about the books.

In reply to Ria, but also talking to everyone else, how can people talk about someone who isn't even mentioned??!??!!!??
Sonia wrote: "maybe i should re-read the SM, but i don't remember it mentioning blackjack.anyone know where it talks about him?pls reply"Right where they're all on the cruise ship and Luke is all like "get out my steed" 'cause he needed to go to the airport, and then blackjack is brought out...she's a mare, and then, when blackjack takes percy out to the ocean in the third book, he's a stallion. weird.

At the end. When Luke and Percy are gonna fight.

Chapter: The Party Ponies invade, like the first few paragraphs.
It's the third paragraph. It doesn't mention Blackjack by name- just as a black pegasus mare."Before he could say anything, Agrius, the bear-man, burst onto the deck leading a flying horse. It was the first pure-black pegasus I'd ever seen, with wings like a giant raven. The pegasus mare bucked and whinnies. I could understand her thoughts. She was calling Agrius and Luke some names so bad that Chiron would've washed her muzzle out with soap."
Later, in the first few chapters of the Titan's Curse, Percy mentions that Blackjack is the flying pegasus that he rescued from Luke's ship. And at that point, Blackjack is a boy.
