Richard (ddaythecannibal) endownedment??? I'm not sure what that word is but you're saying I was creepy by making a sexual comment?

I understand this is a song/quote, but you were warned to tone down the swearing and I'm just reminding you of that.

Secondly, we don't enjoy name-calling in this group. It is a label which is used for discrimination.
This includes "idiot", "creep", etc.

Just try to tone it down, okay?

I told you I understand that and that it was a quote, but I ALSO know that we have had trouble with extensive swearing in this group (at people and otherwise) which is against the rules posted by the creator. As one of the mods, I have to enforce these rules.

I personally don't mind swearing at all, and I know it's a quote so you're not in trouble whatsoever. It was just a gentle reminder about the rules.

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Calm down Brandon...

message 608: by [deleted user] (new)

For some people, swearing is completely against their morals and it makes them uncomfortable for swear words to be used. I'm that way.

Like I said, I'm perfectly fine with cussing, but the rules are the rules. I have my own questions about why cussing is considered bad, but I also know that she doesn't approve so I just bite my tongue as well. If you do have a problem about the swearing OR if you want to just swear at a mod for how stupid these rules are, then message ME. I can probably answer your questions or take it like a punching bag.

im not trying to be rude but better to experience it now then to have it going on years later. The world is full of people that swear, but swearing is how must people express their feeling. And to ask someone to stop expressing emotion is like asking a perosn to be a robot. I mean sure you can ban your own kids and people around from saying it, but when it comes dont to par, the person is going to do what they feel is best........

It's okay. I'm rebellious a lot too.
And I do know where you're coming from.
My question on swearing though:
"WHo in the world decided that there were some words too bad to say? If they're that bad, then why were they made in the first place?"

I'm not telling anyone to stop expressing themselves. But there's more than one way of expressing yourself, and swearing is definitely not the only way. Yes, I know that the world is full of people who don't have the same morals as me. I can't change that. But I'm never going to make people - or even ask them - to stop expressing themselves, and I'm offended that you would suggest that. However, I can ask them to express themselves in different ways.

message 619: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Yeah the comment means girls/women with meat on there bones (Chunky as you put it) are more attractive than, girls/women who are just skin and bones.

well thats true, but you have to take into consideration that some people merely DONT know any other way of expressing themselves and wouldnt DREAM of doing it any other way. and no need to get offended i was just making a point. A glimpse into the easy to see future, if you will. Trust me, i KNOW what its like because i've been in your shoes. Otherwise, i wouldnt have said anything at all. I have a very dear friend of mine, and the only was she can express herself is through Cursing. >.< as vulgar as that may be, i accepted her for it and didnt complain when she said it. And i certainly did not say my words with a dissrespectful tone. Im very sorry if you feel that way, but im pretty much telling it to you in a straight, polite tone because in the future you're certainly going to have to be dealing with it.

hmmmm

It's true, Katoptris. I also don't swear, and aren't too fond of it. Well, when I'm SUPER angry I swear, usually just once. But I can count one one hand how often that has happened. Anyway, you should get used to it. You don't need to accept it or appreciate it, but know that it will pop up darn near every day in your life, and there's not really anything you can do about it. You can ask close friends to not swear around you, and I'm sure they would. You can ask family not to, they probably would listen. But beyond close friends and family, you're out of luck. At your future job you'll hear it. At school/college you'll hear it. At restaurants you'll hear it. Everywhere you go there is swearing, and it would be easier for you if you could learn to accept that people DO swear... whether you like it or not. I just strongly suggest that you learn to not be uncomfortable hearing it. Doesn't mean you need to accept swearing or start swearing yourself... just get used to it and not be uncomfortable around it.

I understand. It does to me also, sometimes. But I just figure... it's part of who they are. I wouldn't like it if someone asked me to stop, oh, I dunno.... wearing my hair curly, and how is asking people to stop swearing any different? It's just part of who they are. Nothing you can do about it, so no reason to feel uncomfortable.

I don't mind if you replace it, that's fine by me. And plus, it's against the group rules to cuss anyway...
