Keri (keri_45) | 98 comments Hi all. Love mysteries, crime and thrillers. Some of my old favs are Jeff Deaver, John Lescroart, James Swain, Carl Hiaasen and Chris Mooney. Some of brand new favs are Craig Johnson, Stephen Booth, Steve Hamilton, Colin Cotterill and Nigel McCrery. I could go on, but I am sure that some others would like to talk. :-)

Just started reading Carl Hiaasen--what is your favorite book of his?

Keri (keri_45) | 98 comments Sick Puppy - Twilly was too funny in that one, Lucky You, you will never look at bicycle patches again without cracking up. Stormy Weather, Strip Tease (better than the movie)and Basket Case. All his characters are off the chain strange. Skink of course is my fav character of all time.

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 6 comments I'm reading Star Island right now. Started reading him because I learned that he was one of Warren Zevon's favorite writers, and if he's good enough for Warren...

Keri (keri_45) | 98 comments I read Star Island and while it was a good read, it wasn't one of my favs.

Sharon Michael | 674 comments Hi, Keri and welcome. Always glad to see another Craig Johnson enthusiast. I grew up and spent the majority of my life in the same area where he lives and where his mysteries are set. He's one of the very few authors that get the 'modern west' and it's people right!

I can actually put names to some of the characters in his books, especially in "Another Man's Moccasins" as I worked for years at the actual VA Hospital in that book.

Keri (keri_45) | 98 comments Thanks Denise and Sharon. Sharon, I love that series and Henry Running Bear is one of my favorite characters. I also really love the setting and it sounds really beautiful.

I went to high school at Crow reservation school (closest high school to the ranch), went to school with Gary Not Afraid, Diane Medicine Crow, Kevin Red Star, LuElla Whiteman (original name was White Man Runs Him) and Larry Pretty Weasel. I'm sure some of the people I knew went into the character of Henry Running Bear.

Love the country and love the people. If you have FB, look up Diana Volk. She still lives in the area, is a professional photographer and has incredible photos of the country, the cowboys and the Indians.
