Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments So I recently finished reading Going Bovine by Libba Bray! This book was absolutely AMAZING! Its a bit odd and quirky but has a twist to the end... For those of you who like non fiction books... you wont like this book at first but the ending is satisfying :) Its worth reading

i haven't read divergent yet but I've heard a lot of people love it. I'm worried it will be too much like the hunger games.

Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments I'm not sure if this is your style, but have you tried the "Mortal Instrument" Series???

I just looked this book up. Why do you reccomend for non-fiction fans? Looks like YA fiction to me ...

message 206: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments Yes it is however... When reading it... It's all about *trying not to spoil* A boy named cameron who gets "Mad cow desiese" and he goes on a trip with a dwarf named gonzo to find his cure... along the storyline... things get a bit fictional.. however later on... the ending is completly realistic and could happen... i do not want to spoil the ending for those of you who want to read this book... howerver... if you need more convincing... i can give away just a little more

message 207: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments And even those of you who do not like Fiction... this book is still (in my opinion) a really good book :)

message 208: by Adriana (new)

Adriana So I finally read my second book and it was alright. I'm on my third. I've read it before so I should go faster.

You convinced me Cassie, I will read it sometime this year. :-)

Weird never stops me. Only boring.

message 212: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments Also... A Fault in Our Stars is an amazing book! Cute story line but kinda unrealistic... it could happen but unlikely.. Its about a girl who has cancer and meets a guy named Augustus Waters and falls in love... :D

message 213: by [deleted user] (new)

@Cassie,
I remember that title. That book received very good reviews. I believe it's one of my to-reads. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

message 214: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (casssieb) | 7 comments READ IT!! IT is really good!!! :D

@Dalynn,
The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz
Besides interviews, I think this is the only Koontz book I've read. I may also have read a children's book by Koontz. I'm not sure. Anyway, this is my recommendation.

Right, so, resurrecting this thread so present me can have a go at past me for collecting that many books and not getting round to reading them!

I was feeling relatively happy that I've managed to find the time to read 19 books so far this year.... then I realised I still have 46 books to go before my bookshelf can be considered 'cleared'... DARN YOU PAST ME!!

Hey 19 books is so good! Do you have 46 books because you've been buying new ones?? :) I have been too. But I'm totally justifying it because I'm reading them right as I buy them LOL

I've bought 2 new books in total and already read 1, I had to use up the money on my xmas gift card, honest! *hangs head in shame*.

message 219: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments So, I haven't updated here in quite awhile. But after having read so many terrible books lately, Fellowship is really making me happy. <3

I also bought That Summer and The Book of Luke; and I won Hourglass. Fingers crossed!

However, my nest read is going to be The White Glove War, and looking back on how much I hated The Magnolia League, I don't have high hopes. ;-;

Razmatus | 89 comments I just ordered 4 books by I.C.Esslemont :)

message 221: by April (new)

April | 570 comments I haven't had to actually purchase anything...but I do have 17 new books on my kindle from all the free sites I subscribe to....it's shameful! :)

message 222: by Denise (new)

Denise (dulcinea3) | 307 comments I'm still buying books, but trying to not buy so many, and am trying to read more of the books I already have. At one point I thought I had about 70 books I hadn't read yet, but after cataloging them here on my shelves, I found I had about 100 more than that! Ahhhhh!!!! Another source of 'new-to-me' books is that on another site, one of the moderators, who has way too many books herself, sends us monthly packages from her collection in order to purge her own books, so most months I have several 'new' books from her, too! Those I can't keep up with, but I'm not going to say no to free books! LOL! Most of them I pass along to somebody else or the library after I read them.

I am "slowly" gathering good books for my humble library, even though my pace in reading them is slower than the purchase one lol... but it is a worthy investment :)

if I run out of place in those two? I will buy a third one and rearrange my room a bit, not that I would need tons of room there :D

Ugh, currently trying to make my way through Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James Fifty Shades of Grey and finding it really difficult at the moment. Not because of the erotic content but because the writing really feels like it hasn't been checked over by the editors or publishers and it seems that the author is promoting a warped, bad view on that lifestyle as well as encouraging people to think that a stalking, obsessive, controlling guy is romantic as long as he's good looking and a billionaire... I've bought it so I will finish it but I'm not impressed!

Hayley - I've heard so many people say that. Not surprised and I'm never going to read it that's for sure.

Thanks hun, I'd heard mixed reviews too and wasn't overly enamoured with most of the feedback but thought that I'd best bite the bullet just so I knew what I was talking about... and I was half hoping it might not be all that bad.

Seriously though, I'm upset I wasted the money on it and the fact I paid for it is the reason I've not just deleted it without finishing :S

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments Hayley, for bad Twilight fanfiction, I'm not surprised it's hard to get through! Fanfiction.net took it down when the author first put it there with the Twilight names because it was too graphic, so all the author did was change the names and publish it as an ebook. :/

I'm reading That Summer by Sarah Dessen, and I'm actually not impressed. And I've never not loved a Dessen book! This one is just so boring and I'm already more than halfway through.

Also, the love interest is the main character's sister's ex-boyfriend, who MC's sister dated when MC was like, nine. It's just really awkward the way it's being approached now. >>

Thalia, I know - I kinda had some pre-warning about what to expect... but I didn't expect that sort of writing style mixed with those sort of character traits being glosse dover with rose tinted glasses. I've read bad fanfic in my time but that would've been up there with the worst... if I ever ventured onto the Twilight fanfiction ;)

That sounds like a very awkward set up, good luck keeping yourself going through that. I like to think that, when I carry on reading a bad book it's so that I take one for the team, bite the bullet and then can give an informed opinion to anyone else that asks... sounds much more noble than 'I just read a bad book' ;D

message 230: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Well...I'm glad I read through these:) I won't be adding the whole 50 Shades to my reading list...it sounds worse and worse every review (of people I know) trying to get through it. Sorry, Hayley...I know how annoyed I get when I actually purchase a book, and it's not what I wanted it to be...or even good. :(
